How is it so random which camera comes out on top  1S looks **** in comparison there. Looks like a smudge on the lens in the middle of the first 1S one

No smudges, I wiped them both before the tests - would hove shown in the second pic too.

HOS just failed to focus properly I think - both S2 and HOS were given one chance at the pic - no multiple pics of the same thing. I gave the HOS enoght time to focus too.

S2 is still a great camera. Colours about are a lot more natural than the HOS when shown side by side.

I think when the HOS pics are shown on their own you don't notive the over saturation as much.

Just had to change my wallpaper, other one wasn't forum friendly :p

:D

Nope it's not. (unless i'm completely misunderstanding what you're saying which is very possible :o)

Hmmm, I just tried on mine and changed the settings of apex etc. but the wallpaper is stretched still (only a certain part fits in, not the entire photo) with a landscape photo but with a portrait photo it is fine then :p

I am not too sure exactly either now :p :o But I think we have answered that guys question :D :p

Hmm, so now the GS 2 photos look like GS 3 photo quality  :p

The Gs 2 captures more detail and isn't as saturated (more natural colours this time as well), big change from the recent pics!

Probably be good to just take another photo but both on the same ISO setting :p :D

It is weird though, as the majority of shots from kona look a lot more saturated than the shots I have taken regarding flowers etc.

It seems silly to keep taking these pictures, especially as the results seem to change every time. :p

It seems that at best, the S3 is better, at worst, there's really not a big difference, so it shouldn't bother you.

We are obsessed with these comparisons/photos! :D :p

It is like nicotine to us, so addictive! :p :o

EDIT:

that 3TB hard drive must be rather handy at the minute kona! :D :p

Lol - does show that in some scenarios the S2 can still take top shots.

well suited scenario fro the S2 again me thinks - being picky:could do with a touch more contrast though - looks a tad washed out.

ISO 40 and 100 are pretty much identical settings.

Me too - my HOS is deffo over-saturated.

Indeed!

Probably just a very small touch but I think overall it looks good, no where as washed out as the first set of pics by you.

ISO 40 and 100 are pretty much identical settings.

Suppose :)

BTW how do you find out what ISO setting was used when the photo was taken just using the auto ISO setting?

Ah right :o

Thanks :)

EDIT:

Just had a quick look through my photos and the auto setting actually does a pretty damn good job for picking the right ISO setting. All the bright and outdoor shots etc. are around 100, indoor lowish light about 200-400 and indoor low lit at night time about 500-600 and dark shots over 800.

lol epic storage Kona! :D

Nice comparison pics guys! It's amazing to see all the variation from HTCs metering software/jpg engine.
They've come soooo far though and the HOS is still utterly brilliant, I certainly couldn't live without 'spray and prey' anymore. :)
