***The Official HTC One Thread***

Regarding the side blur:

http://connect.dpreview.com/post/1916293861/we-put-the-htc-ones-ultrapixels-to-the-test

In quite a few, but not all of our HTC One sample shots we noticed extreme softness on the right side of the frame. We haven't been able to determine the exact reasons for this but we are suspecting the effect could be caused by the image stabilization system decentering one of the lens elements. Once we get a review unit here in Seattle we will check if this is only a problem with the particular copy of the phone that Andy had in London and investigate further. The problem is very visible in the samples which were taken within a few images. Exposure data for the two images is identical but if you click through to the full version of the image on the left you can see that are large area on the right side of the frame is extremely soft, making the image pretty much unusable.

Interesting, they think it's the OIS messing up and decentering the lens? That's not getting fixed with software. (Get a replacement if anyone has this problem)

...and it uses a ST sensor that's been designed for webcams? Oh I guess that's why we're not being blown away :D
Real world sensitivity can't be that much better than the latest stacked design. Hopefully it won't deter them from continuing this "Ultrapixel" concept and they secure a source of bleeding edge 2.0µm+ sensors for next years flagship.

I wish HTC would hurry up and release the 64gb version, as I'm pretty much set on buying the phone but just want 64gb. I find it absurd that they couldn't just release the damn thing in both capacities, I mean how difficult can it be? It isn't just me who's moaning either, loads of other people are waiting on the 64gb version too.

If my contract was up I'd actually give my iPhone to my mother and just get this. It looks amazing, and that 64GB version looks tasty.

I've always had a thing for aluminium and black. The screen is a tad big for my liking though.

Question, why no headphone jack?

No headphone jack? its on the top edge.

I edited it out, it was based on an incomplete review I saw that mentioned it only had a mini-USB port for everything.

This thing is bloody expensive sim free, I could get it free if I could upgrade right now. :(

I'll post up all of my thoughts soon but I've had this phone for two days, I got it in a rush to have in time for my brothers wedding. Overall it has been absolutely amazing. I'm usually not taken in by gimmicks like die and video highlights but they have been extremely useful, very fun and I've even used the always smile and object removal with success.

great great phone. I think I might have an intermittent home button though. It works 95% of the time but seems to drop out from time to time.

Will post more later

Has anyone here ordered from mobilephonesdirect before? are there phones on contract sim free handsets or network branded. Tempted for a t mobile deal with the htc one they are offering.

Regarding video playback:

I just put the Amazing life THX demo as found on the Avatar Blu-ray directly onto my phone, a totally untouched m2ts file. I know my S3 wont play it, but the One plays it with MX player in software mode. its 95% smooth, just the odd stutter.

Thats impressive, very.

Edit: It seems my Nexus 10 will do as well, maybe its an A15 thing, because it doesn't work on any A9 based device ive tried it on.
