***The Official HTC One Thread***

Thanks, decent deal, ordered :D

Grand opening, grand closing...

Cancelled the order, been thinking and the HTC One isn't as good as my Nexus 4. The HTC has a slightly better screen but software wise it fails. I'm using Carbon Rom and Martix kernel and its fast, smooth and battery efficient. Also the light indicator on the HTC is tiny.

Amazed you think that - the Nexus 4 feels so nasty it makes even the Galaxy S4 feel like a premium device.

I dont understand whats wrong with the notification LED? It's bright enough to see clearly under all conditions?

I'm with you on the software side of it; I don't think any device comes close to the Nexus 4 on that front.

Hardware-wise though the One is a nice improvement in my opinion. Better screen, better speakers, better processor with no thermal throttling issues (twice the performance in certain areas because of this), better camera, more storage and arguably better build quality & looks. That's a lot of betters. I don't know how the Nexus 4 performs in terms of standby time, but the One is supposed to be fantastic in this regard too.

The software will never be quite there, but custom ROMs can do a pretty good job. I have a very slick experience with my S3 running Supernexus 2.0, although I would prefer a Nexus 4.

Just curious but what is it that you guys like so much about stock android?

The only thing which really pulls me to stock android these days is the holo theme but aside from that, imo the rest of sense more than makes up for that theme i.e.:

- unified feel throughout
- the features, especially when it comes to the browser, gallery and camera

Having more useless apps etc. installed is annoying but you can disable them so they never start/run in the background and for the ones you can't disable, just hide them via apex/nova launcher.

If you like the stock apps, you can just install 3rd party apps :p

ICan't find that deal, only the £36 a month one, where are you getting£28?

Search Htc One, then narrow search to 18 months.

It's 36 a month on Orange but works out to 28 a month via the redemption deal, it shows on the site as 28 being the effective monthly cost.

Mate at work has a Nexus 4 had a play it is pretty nasty, it's ok for the price but it feels cheap it would certainly feel like a big downgrade to me.

Let's put it this way. Every night when I put my phone on charge, I've never put it on with less than about 40% remaining. Last night I put it on with 40% left after 1day and 1hour off charge. I'd used it like I normally have albeit with 3G off as my data was looking dangerously low. With my Galaxy S2 (with newish battery) it would barely last 10 hours with the same usage. With my Galaxy S2 with original battery, it'd barely last 7-8hours.

This is the main reason why I'm happy that the HTC One has fast charge disabled. On my Galaxy S2 I bought a new battery after about 10months because it wasn't holding the charge as well as it used to. I bought a new Samsung Genuine battery which corrected the issue for about another 10months before it had the same problem and I blame fast charge for a lot of this.

Bottom line is that 90% of the people out there will not need to worry about making it through a full day with the HTC One. If you find yourself watching HD movies on your phone for 3 hours a day you may need yo start thinking about taking a charger with you.

I disagree with both of you, it feels like a premium phone and certainly doesn't exhibit any of the manufacturing faults of the HO.

So how does a glass front and back phone feel less premium than a plastic phone? I don't get your reasoning behind it?

It's also way cheaper cost wise than the HO and performs just as well.

Put it this way £289 for the N4 which has no defects compared to paying £500 for the HO which has quite a few defects manufacturing wise is a no brainer. :p:D

I certainly prefer the N4 over the HO and I have both, I'm running Paranoid Android and Franco Kernel and it runs so smoothly, saying that the HO is no slouch either.

Oh yeah, I got mine exchanged a few days ago & have a perfect HO now. Battery life is fantastic even on this 1.28 firmware. Wish 3UK would pull their fingers out & just release the update already. I've Liquid Armored the screen & camera lens & I'm keeping it in a Poetic Atmosphere case.

Nice one Mate, what's the serial number of your new device, just out of interest?

So the screen is flush both top and bottom to the speakers and the gaps at the top and bottom are literally nothing?

The standby time on the HO is nothing short of epic :D
