***The Official HTC One Thread***

Been playing with the S4 and the One and the stuttering on the S4 is a joke. It is all the time even with the extra features turned off. Feels like a device from a couple of years ago!

mine certainly isnt that bad and whilst there is obviously some sort of issue, it only seems to be with the touchwiz launcher - nova or any other replacement launcher pretty much eliminates it. As such, it's not really something I'm too bothered about. Certainly not enough to call it a joke :p

It really is quite strange. If the One did not exist then I am sure we would be blaming the 1080p resolution for the occasional stutter but the One has proved that 1080p can be buttery smooth on the Snapdragon 600.

If you get chance try and have a play with one and I am sure you will be shocked. The One deserves to be the top phone more than ever now.

Yours might be a dud as mine's as smooth as a baby. Friday afternoon special? and as bad as your Official Nexus 10 OP?

I've actually seen a lot of people comment that it has stuttering and isn't 'buttery smooth', must be something that causes it.

Exactly.

To me it is a joke, releasing a premium smartphone that has stuttering issues out of the box is just not acceptable to me. I am not a Samsung hater as I had the Note 1 and Note 2 before the One.

What exactly is the reason to buy the S4? Stuttery software, cheap plastic shell... remind me of the benefits again

no silly htc logo taking up proper button placement for starters (anyone for a massive menu button in apps? - oh thought so). Oh and a real notification light, more storage...

oh the game's we play with jokers.

Removable storage and full RGB LED are less important compared to a responsive UI, we really shouldn't be getting stutters in flagships now and hopefully it's just a bug.

What I do find a joke is that you only get ~9GB of useable storage space for apps/games on the S4 and no option to move game data to the memory card (unless rooted). At least the HTC comes with ~26GB.

I don't know whether it was down to the bad experience I've recently had with Samsung but absolutely nothing at all about the S4 appeals to me. Maybe it's because I have a Note 2, I dunno? The only real thing I find impressive on the S4 is the screen size in relation to the overall handset size, that's it.

I use to think that (1) removable battery and (2) sd card were big factors for me but if I look back over the past few months - my Note 2 has had almost all it's internal storage full but I've had loads of space available on my sd card, so maybe I'll prefer the 32GB internal on the One? And I've never once since owning the Note 2 actually had to remove the battery!

I should get the chance to play with both phones this week anyway, my cousins ordered the S4 and I'll have the One.

For me, the One simply isn't an option due to the lack of storage (as has been said already). Other than that the phones are pretty similar really, the slightly bigger screen on the S4 is nice, but hardly a deal breaker.

Had the One had an SD slot (or a 64GB version) I'd probably have one already :(.

You forgot to mention a few months down the line Samsung will still provide support for the latest iterations of android much quicker than HTC ever have/will to this date :)

P.S. a lot of the stutter issues are software related, and most have been fixed already in the newest firmware updates (Yes there have already been quite a few firmware updates within 2 weeks)

The reason for the ~9gb is simply bloatware, something that can and is easily fixable.

It may be cheap but it's certainly not falling into pieces ;)

wow it's been on for 2 days straight now and battery is 73%

Mine has hairline gaps at the bottom but I'm happy with that, you really have to look for them and no-one else has pointed it out.
