***The Official HTC One Thread***

Hold down the power button for 30 seconds, its the equivalent of taking the battery out. Both the capacitive buttons at the bottom should flash. Try it a few times.

If that doesn't work then its broken.

nah just tried a few times now and it's not coming on, gonna try and get phones4u to swap it at lunchtime, wish me luck :p

I'm starting to get a small build up of dust near the top speaker where the screen isn't quite flush. The gap is just about big enough to fit a piece of paper in.

It's annoying but I don't know if it's annoying enough to go through the hassle of getting a new phone.

I ordered over the phone from three. If I went into a three store would they swap it in store?

Most likely a door step exchange. You can use the phone until the new one arrives. Although I ordered online it should be the same on the phone.

The notification light is so c#@p on this compared to my Note 2, hard to see it's even flashing sometimes!

The notification is absolutely rubbish, as I suspected. Its not that noticeable and green is the only colour. I can't even control the speed of the blinking, would like solid on for missed calls/texts and flashing for emails.

Yes the notification light is next to useless unless your right near the phone.

They should have had the option to make the HTC Logo an RGB LED

So my Nillkin snap on case arrived in the post this morning, Very happy with it:

I originally went for this pouch but hated it

Are there any apps you guys are finding especially useful on the One?

Power Toggle is very good for quick access to Wifi, Mobile Data, GPS, Flashlight etc. Thanks to whoever recommended it!

Minimalistic Text is useful for battery % as there is no option to display it in the status bar (I think), although there are other apps that do the same.

Will try Light Flow but I'd really prefer it if, when I receive a text message the screen comes on, then it goes off itself after awhile if unchecked -> then the notification light comes on. If anyone manages to set it like this, let me know!

Hi,

I thought I would post my experience thus far with the HTC One. I love the phone its awesome and such a big leap from the iPhone 4 that I had, apart from one thing - build quality. I ordered from Dialaphone mid April and the 1st one had gaps at the top and bottom and the screen wasn't flush. I sent it back and received a second phone a couple of days back and the gaps are worse and there is glue residue around the screen where it meets the body. The power button sinks on one side so you can hardly turn it on and off. A quick call to Dialaphone just now and they are replacing again but they couldn't guarantee me if it would be from a new batch or not. Third time lucky I guess. My only concern is I unlocked and put a custom ROM on it last night. I have read over at XDA that as long as I put the stock ROM back and factory reset/wipe the "relocked" status wont affect the warranty. A bit silly of me but I couldn't help fiddling as i'm new to Android!
I really like this phone I just want a decent build on it.

I have also found the official hard shell case is rubbish.

If you place the power toggles in the notification tray, it will add an icon to the notification bar () and you can choose to customise that icon to a battery % meter if you want.

Two pretty nice photos:

BTW remember to do this in order to stop the blurry effect especially on the right side of the photo:

There is also a quirky blur to some of the pictures, especially when taking the picture immediately after tapping on a focal point. I've found that by waiting a second or so between focusing and clicking the shutter, the image tends to sharpen considerably.

I'm just worried about getting a worse one in return. I'll see if it gets any worse I guess.

I'm using glowfly which does exactly this. I tried SMSpopup but glowfly seems to be way more reliable.

You can seemingly hide the icon in the notification bar - has worked for me, but I am not quite sure what I did.....

There's a transparent option but that just makes it invisible, but if you have other icons on the left side of the status sometimes a "gap" would appear where the transparent power toggle icon is hiding...

I've set mine to show a battery meter since the stock battery icon doesn't show the percentage anyway. I've set it to Battery 2 to try make it match the rest of the icons in statusbar :p.

I don't get these symptoms ^^
I think that I used the Pin on Top option set to Off and that is it - my notification bar usually only shows my SmartWatch connected icon in the top left, and any subsequent icons (e.g. Mail or Updates) just shunt the SmartWatch icon....interestingly, Mail notifications go to left hand corner, App update notifications go to the right of the SmartWatch one

@Nexus Both examples of the pictures you have provided are very impressive. Considering the HOS was never hailed for its photographic capabilities it has always delivered consistant and decent photos.

Yes the HO has a very fast shutter speed but they will have to work on getting the blurry shot issue sorted asap. Maybe it might be tweeked in the forthcoming update? I'm still waiting on HTC UK's response in regards to the bug.
