***The Official HTC One Thread***

Do you guys prefer the HTC mail and calender apps or the google ones?

I HATE the calender apps, why does it have to open a new screen instead of staying in month mode when i click a date.

All i want to do is click a date and it show me quickly whats happening, so then i can click the next day without having to go back every time.

They need to take a page from apple's book on that.

Well you can side swipe in both apps in day view to flick between days

I don't know how you guys find the notification light 'good', must have something to do with the phone you are coming from as it's absolutely pants compared to the light on the Note 2. It's behind the actual speaker grill so when the phones at an angle ie. sat on your desk in front of you, it's not easy to see it. It's not a huge issue but something that could have been much better implemented imo.

If you place the power toggles in the notification tray, it will add an icon to the notification bar () and you can choose to customise that icon to a battery % meter if you want.

I'm new to power toggles, completely missed the option to stick them in the notification dropdown tray which I've done now and it's perfect, tidies up my homescreen just a bit. Also added battery % to notification bar at the top!

Such a slick phone I have to say. :)

how did you come to this conclusion ;)

Incorrectly :)

I think what I was trying to get at is that whilst the S3 can turn its pixels off and go to absolute black, it does lose distinction between the darkest shades - at least mine did - so that anything under a certain value is effectively useless. The HTC One goes so much brighter and although the blacks are backlit and therefore not as dark as we'd like, perhaps the number of usable shades is actually greater. I might be talking crap of course.

Oh, I should say now that I've got Android Revolution HD installed I'm much happier with the responsiveness. I'd recommend it to anyone comfortable enough to unlock the bootloader and I look forward to seeing the ROMs that will crop up over time.

Well had a few days to play with it and hardware side of things is certainly beautiful, the speakers are pretty good for a phone and camera seems good as well. Only issues I'm having is that I came off a much more streamlined Windows Phone platform and finding Android a little overwhelming almost, clearly installed too much crap as my battery life isn't that good.

Any good email apps with a good UI people would recommend for it?

^ Agreed, good choice in black too

I don't know if it's the best phone I've ever owned, but it's most definitely the best looking and the nicest to hold/use. It excels in certain areas e.g. audio, build quality, design, screen and it is 'very good' in other areas such as the camera, battery life etc. First HTC phone I've ever owned too. :)

Is it true that the HTC logo has been mapped as a button? It was mentioned earlier in this thread. If so, is it likely that HTC will allow it to be used with a future update as I don't intend to root. My free Sky Go account plus unlimited internet is too good to pass up on, especially as I tend to watch a lot of sport.

This the only Android phone i feel no need to bother rooting and putting custom roms on, normally am changing them all the time.

Its not an actual button, its the touch area slightly above the logo. it works but you have to press just above the HTC logo.

Mine arrived today. Very impressed with the turnaround from Phones 4U. Sent my S4 back on Wednesday using their pre-paid envelope. Got an email confirming they had it yesterday and got the HTC ONE delivered this morning!

Only had a little play with it as i had work today but from the little time i had with it...i loved it. It really does feel so much more 'premium' than the S4. Even the typing and haptic feedback feels more solid and just ...better.

The speed at which the camera takes photos is amazing as well. The screen is totally uniform in terms of colours/white balance as well ..unlike the three Galaxy S4's i went through all with varying levels of terrible screen uniformity.

Just synced the TV app with my telly and Sky Box, awesome! You can control almost everything from the phone, volume, channels, pause, play etc. Our remote is all over the place so this will be very handy!

What is the multitasking like on the HTC One. Does it close apps you have running frequently? I know in the s3 due to the samsung features, the phone frequently had to reload the browser. Does the browser or apps you recently used have to be reloaded frequently or reside in the memory for quick access?

One question. One thing i liked about the S3/S4 is that the notification bar dissapeared when using apps but you could drag it back down as an overlay on what you are doing whenever you wanted. Doesnt look like you can do this (at least not on the stock browser)?
