***The Official HTC One Thread***

Just wish the battery was replaceable. Dont like the idea of the battery getting worse over time.

HTC have disabled fast charging on the HTC One for the exact reason. Fast charging is a big big reason why batteries go bad so quickly, so hopefully the HO battery will last that little bit extra before it needs replacement, and at least 2 years so most people can get through their contract comfortably.

Has anybody else lost use of the google keyboard since the update or is it just me? It no longer shows up as a selectable keyboard even though it is installed..

Anyone notice image sharing to the official twitter app from the gallery is broken with this update? It works just fine with Carbon, it's just the official twitter app that is having kittens.

The external buttons (power/volume) really let this phone down. The build quality is outstanding but the buttons just feel cheap and broken.

Great phone though. New update has definitely improved something.

Yup, agreed. I think I remember reading somewhere that the update implements new Snapdragon drivers, which improve GPU performance.

Ginga

Thought there must be something in that...half the time it's usually the excitement of the update that makes you think it :p

Love being able to access all the quick options from the notification bar with the phone locked...fantastic addition.

What does s-off do?

If i get this phone from o2 on the phone will it be unlocked

Nope.
It stands for "Security - Off" (I think). It allows you to do things like unlock your bootloader (and reset the tamper flag), change your CID etc.

There is a big with the google keyboard and certain CIDs. Mine works with my default CID of H3G__001 but not HTC__001 (which it is currently set to). Loads of people are just waiting for google to sort it out.

Got 4.2.2 last night. New features good but phone is getting very hot. I have tried rebooting etc but makes no difference. Anybody else notice theirs getting very hot after the update?

It has been reported that the phone does get a lot hotter when playing games etc. It doesn't seem to be anything to worry about.

I've been thinking of upgrading to the HTC One soon, what I was wondering though is whether I can disable the Blinkfeed at all? I was planning to use a different launcher anyway (Apex) so hopefully this'll get rid of it?

Also, what kind of battery life are people getting out of the phones now? I'll be upgrading from a HTC One X which is getting sent off to HTC for multiple repairs on things...

Yep a new launcher should get rid of blinkfeed.

Battery life I get 2 days out of mine usually, that's with some web browsing, listening to music, Facebook/eBay apps etc. Don't really watch any films or play any games on it.

Anyone else notice that the black version is easily marked? I have some marks on mine despite having it in a case since new. Bit annoying as it's going to affect the price I get for it if I sell it on...

The black does get marked easily, but it rubs straight off most of the time. I was scared on the first day I got mine and caught it on a button and saw a massive scratch appear, then noticed if i rub it it came off straight away. Panic over :p

Use a different launcher will get rid of blinkfeed, the sense launcher will still be there on the phone though should you want to use it again, Just set the default launcher as Apex.

The phone does get very hot but just remember the aluminum is basically a huge heatsink, it is nothing to worry about, Mine has been majorly hot the past week & it hasn't really bothered me.

I can't say what kind of battery life I have cause i am running the GE edition with a custom kernel. But with that I got 5 hours screen on time, about 1 day 3hours in life, Auto brightness & never connected to wifi.

Yep mine was like a furnace last night but seems to have settled back to normal today.

Mine goes positively nuclear when in the HTC car kit, attached to the windscreen, running Maps with Satellite layer et al. Battery loses charge faster than the (1A) charger can supply it too!
