***The Official HTC One Thread***

why dont CM and AOKP and PA use the GPE as their base?

They only use open-source drivers and code. The GPE edition has some closed source stuff and is still Sense based, which is not compatible with AOSP.

I'm thinking of upgrading my iphone 4 to the HTC one, i've never had an android phone so is there a huge difference? I really like the look of the HTC and from what i can gather the specs are really good, how much of an improvement would it be over my iphone? I currently have two phones im interested in getting, either the sony experia Z or the HTC one, im swaying more towards the HTC at the moment.

Another plus im seeing with getting the HTC is the memory, right now my iphone only has 8GB and that is nothing where as the HTC has 32GB.

It's a huge difference. It may take some time getting use to Android, it depends on your personal preferences if you like the way Sense 5 (HTC's version of Android) works. I know there are some which found it too confusing and switched back to iOS, and others who love the more customizable options.

The Xperia Z is a nice phone as well but personally when I saw it in the shop, it looked like a slab of boring plastic... And the screen on it has poor viewing angles as well.

I don't think i'd get confused with the software, sure it'll take some time to get used to though.

How better is the display on the HTC one compared the the Iphone 4? I mainly use my phone for watching videos, listening to music, playing games and using things like Facebook and twitter also searching stuff on the internet, the iphone atm seems a bit slow in general.

How is the music managed on the HTC? I'm not to sure as i've only ever used Itunes.

I really like the look of this phone and if i get some more information through here im thinking of doing an early upgrade this week.

Thanks :D

Any must haves for this phone or things I should do?

Everyone has their own interests and preferred way of doing things but my personal advice to you, after of course ensuring that you have 'upgraded' to 4.2.2, is to get used to take some time to get used to the default configuration, and not be in too much of a hurry to start rooting and installing custom ROM's etc.

Just in case you are unfortunate enough to have any initial problems, it can make diagnosis that bit easier.

Also only install apps which you know you will want use, as there is a tremendous amount of 'dross' out there!

Other users will give you completely different advice I am sure, but the main thing is that you enjoy using your new phone! :)

Just been browsing the phone websites.

Found what looks like a good deal with EE, i've never used them and have always used o2, but the deal i can get with them seems a lot better. The o2 signal around here is poor, and a friend of mine just got a phone on EE and now receives 3g signal when he's at work, i would also because i work with him, this would be a bonus as work is very boring most of the time.

With EE i can get a HTC one in black, silver or red.

24 month contract £29 upfront payment and £31 per month

Unlimited calls and texts and 1gb of data.

and a free HTC one media link.

With o2 i can get HTC one in black or silver.

24 month contract £37 per month

600 minutes, unlimited texts and 750gb of data.

Anyone here use EE?

I've just ordered one of these myself, if you go via mobiles.co.uk and quidco you can get better deals - I got the htc one for £50 up front and £22 a month 600 mins unlimited texts and 750mb - if you don't want to pay for the handset you can get it for £27 month - both on o2
and you get £50 cashback from quidco

EE give me a fantastic signal compared to O2 or Vodafone.

However, the deal you have posted there isn't that good at all. :/

http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/search....rk=orange&rowqty=50&sortkey=11&order=1&page=1

As you can see there free phone, unlimited texts, loads of minutes and 750mb data which works out at £23pm if you do the redemption. If you don't, it is £31 pm. (plus you can get £50 Quidco cashback for all HTC one contracts from DAP)

Or for an 18month deal

I'll take a look at the websites when i get home, for some reason my work PC wont load them.

Never even heard of dialaphone to be honest.

Dialaphone are pretty big, owned by phones4u and have been around years. I got the 18m deal I posted with £100 cashback and it worked out that over 18m i'd only be paying £404 inc phone - a storming deal.

Perhaps there are some advantages in owning a Nexus 4 after all then! ;)

Yeah you get to be a beta tester so everyone else gets the update after all the issues the got introduced get fixed.

Nexus 4 owners are complaining of overheating problems with 4.3, which will be fixed by the time everyone else gets the 4.3.3 update.

So I just picked up a HTC One yesterday, moved from an iPhone 5 and I really like it it so far. Just go round to connecting it to my MacBook and wondering what the best way to transfer mp3's is?

Tried installing the official HTC Sync but it doesnt seem the best piece of software.
