***The Official HTC One Thread***

It looks as if we are going to have to wait until early next year for our official KitKat!

"Across EMEA, HTC will work with local carriers to begin the roll-out of Android 4.4 with Sense 5.5 for the HTC One from end of January. The Google Play edition will start to receive the update earlier, starting from the end of November," a spokesperson told ZDNet."

Comparing with this article where they're aiming for the developer version to have 4.4 in a month, I'm hoping the actual update for the international variants to appear before the new year.

htc One buttons ?

Evening all,

Just a quick question, I had a htc One when it first came out and dropped it cracking the screen in the process, so sold it on the well known auction site.
I've been using a SG4 for a while but have now gone back to a htc One.

Does the power button sit virtually flat on the top, also the volume button sits proud on the lower half, I suppose I'm asking is this normal?
I can't remember what the original one I had was like.

Cheers

Mine seems to be as you have described and I don't have any issues using it so I guess that's the way they are :)

Thanks that's good news, I was just being a tad paranoid thinking it may have been a lemon.
I've sent a One Max back because of build quality and didn't want to be in the same boat again, the back of the One Max was a real pain to get it back on and at £580 sim free it should have fitted perfectly.

Cheers for the quick answer.

no 4.3 from three.

There was a small update but it was to do with 'future app stability' or something so maybe they are rolling it out soon...

My volume button is on the top half, about 2/3 of the way up.

Since 4.3 Update USB OTG not working.

As title.

Since I've updated to the latest software version I can't get my USB OTG cable working.

Anyone else experiencing this.

I'd also encrypted my phone a couple of weeks before the update.. I'm wondering if it might be that but I doubt it..

Anyone else experienced this since the latest 4.3 update?

I was looking for a new HTC One recently and noticed the price hike at Amazon. They are charging a similar price to one of the high street retailers and probably easier to just buy one sim free off them (phones4u). There are plenty on the auction site though realize it's not without risk. Choose carefully, as I did, and it's possible to grab a bargain. Mine I've had a week off an individual on ebay which was posted fast and works flawlessly. Screen is mint and body (black) shows slight signs of use which it'll have even more once I've used it.

Thanks buddy - having a look on ebay at the moment.

Always slightly wary of buying off ebay as I assume most of the phones are factory refurbs of phones that broke in the past. Anyone got any advice on this subject? Not sure if its best to stick to boxed new phones

Have a look on handtec (I'm sure I'm ok to mention them are they are not a competitor)
I normally get my sim free phones from them, they are spot on with service and their pricing is good.

Their website price is currently showing as £468 which is even higher than the rain forest! :(

You could be right regards the factory refurbs and rightly or wrongly avoid them myself. Maybe only the third phone I've ever bought on ebay. I sort a few possibles out and check out the sellers feedback and description then sit it out until the end of auction. Time of day the auction ends can make a price diff. Not without risk but I've had no probs to date.

I'm pleased with the HTC One. For me good signal and a reasonably loud and clear call audio is important working in often noisy environment and HTC One on the latter is the best to date. I've bought an OtterBox Commuter for when at work. Bulks the phone somewhat but bare it's bit like a bar of soap to hold  The aluminum back is wonderfully smooth. Mine is black which looks good but not sure the coating is particularly hard wearing? Screen is the best yet and phone never lags (to date).
