***The Official HTC One Thread***

Whats with the enormous wasted space between the bottom line of apps on each homescreen and the fixed apps on the very bottom bar?! It looks daft :(

Kitkat.

Google wants the OEM's not to skin so much.

It's total crap - the HTC one was sensibly colour coded. The new one isn't. My phone is on 11% I've just noticed yet it's not immediately obvious from the battery indicator in the notification bar. With the old version it'd have been yellow!

What is everyone using as far as custom ROMS is concerned?

I've always like ARHD but the latest iteration is buggy for me and hasn't been updated in ages (an update now doesn't look likely).

Been running ViperOne +ElementalX kernel since I got my M7, and haven't had any real issues with it to be honest.

I use Nova launcher instead of the stock Sense one though.

The various skins available for ViperOne are a nice option to have if you don't like the default Sense colours.

I haven't really tried any other roms as I was happy with Viper on my OneX+, so I stuck with it when I switched over to the One.

Adjusting the default screen brightness values in VenomTweaks might help you get a bit more from the battery.

I've always left my brightness on auto. My battery life wasn't bad with Viperone just the battery life has always been amazing on ARHD.

It doesn't look like we'll be getting much in the way of updates now with the m8 getting most of the attention so I just want something stable.

In VenomTweaks you can fine tune the screen brightness level for the light sensor. There's 3 different presets & a manual mode to play around with.

I haven't had Viper crash my phone since installing it.
I've been running ElementalX kernel at it's default settings too - no undervolting/overclocking.
Only thing I've noticed is the built-in browser forgetting it's settings randomly, but that's been it.
I'm not that heavy a user though.

Mine never crashes as such.

With viperone everything was fine, then I moved to ARHD and often the back button and keyboard doesn't respond within apps. I get the haptic feedback but nothing else. I have to close the app from the task menu then open it up for it to be responsive again. It's not the end of the world, just really annoying.

Going to install Viper over the weekend.

Anyone else found that their One has slowed down considerably over the last year?

I got mine in April last year (didn't realise it was that long ago!) and it would start up inside about 15 seconds and was instantly responsive. Now it takes about a minute or more to start up (mostly the white HTC screen) and it seems to lag a lot more (not all the time, just randomly) than it used to when closing programs and going into and out of recent apps and app drawer.

Got mine last year April as well and mine hasn't slowed down at all. Still pretty quick to boot up and haven't noticed any lag any where. Perhaps pop into recovery mode and clear the cache partition to see if that helps?

Paranoid android for me.

Haven't noticed any slow down with mine, Although I have been using my Nexus 4 since the L port came out. Will be going back to it tomorrow though!

Thanks, I'll try that. I've also been having problems with mobile speed as well. I get full H bars but it has trouble loading even pages on OcUK, taking about a minute to do so... Not sure if it's the network (orange) or phone.

I've left my M7 on ARHD 52.0 for a while and i'm very happy with it. I've managed moderate usage throughout the day, forgetting to charge at home and after a night out - getting in about 5am.. - to find I still have ~10% battery left, leaving the lot switched on. :p

Still as fast as it has always been, buttery smooth with no issues with any aspect of it. :)

Could someone tell me how I can root my htc one? I'm not really bothered about custom roms or anything. Just want to root it so I can remove the o2 splash screen and use appradio unchained etc :)

Easiest way is to unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery and then within the custom recovery, flash the superuser.zip file. Bare in mind unlocking the bootloader will wipe your phone, and is required if you wish to root.

Link to a custom recovery, as well as a guide on rooting here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173870

Another alternative method to not wipe your data but still unlock the bootloader is Firewater, but it doesn't work for all HOs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632351

You could also take a step further and S-OFF, and change the CID to HTC__001 and flash the unbranded UK HTC stock ROM so you have the stock HTC One without any of the O2 junk.

Mine ran out of battery last night (well, 4:20am..), so I stuck it on charge and drunkenly forgot about it.

No LED or anything. All the usual stuff to switch it on made the home and back button lights flash, then go out. After another ten goes at everything to make it turn on, eventually the Power+Vol Up made it come on, to then find it had actually charged but without any LED for it.

tl;dr - Don't let the battery run out. :p
