***The Official HTC One Thread***

I am no expert in photography either :p, just a hobby :D

I think for the mic. photo, the one just captures more light and lights everything up so it appears to be washed out but isn't really.

For the phone boxes, overall I think the one produces the better photo, by a very small margin though.

But for those 2 photos, there really isn't much difference between them that is worth worrying about.

Big difference in the night shot though (imo), one looks better, much less noise.

Is it not already out in the USA? I thought it had been on sale for at least a month or so now?

And yup, it isn't that good to go through the hassle and end up paying £500+ or whatever! :D :p

Indeed! :D Not as good camera overall = no go! :p

Interesting, CNET clearly have a broken camera module too. I'd put money on lens alignment issue.

If anyone buys this phone and has the same issue (blurry edges to some degree) send it back asap.

A hobby that puts in you in good stead! :)

I think the pictures were very close too, the CNET picture scared the living hell out of me, surely a phone can't produce something like that which is akin to phones from early part of last decade.

The night shot is where the HO stands out and will be the camera's strength.

My bad yes you're right the Oppo was released in America in January, I don't know how it's doing sales wise, it hasn't been picked up by the tech sites that are based in America, which I find slightly strange.

You mentioned this earlier sarge with another example I can't remember where in this thread, but yet again good spot! :)

So there are HO's out there that are defective, must look out for this issue if I don't cancel my order in the end.

Other than the blurry edges, how do you spot a lens alignment issue?

Thanks :)

Yeah that photo by the one on cnet is awful! Definitely something not right there.

Probably don't think it is worth reviewing due to the brand and non existent phone history :(

I like Marques Brownlee brief look/reviews at phones, he did a good video on it:

"The Storm Trooper of design of ALL phones" now that's a statement to make!

Thanks for the video Nexus! :) I know how much you dislike white phones but that looks gorgeous, I like the black front and white back it reminds me of the white Galaxy Nexus.

Did you pick up on the point that Oppo were constantly sending updates to the phone re camera software? Impressive support!

Now I know why you're really into the phone! :D

Check out the right hand side of this photo and compare it to the left side for sharpness >

The CNET sample is even worse. Maybe that's the cause of the delay, a faulty batch of lenses?

Cheers sarge, very good example there, I now know what to look out for. CNET sample is a shocker

It could be a faulty batch of lenses contributing to the delay, who knows for sure except HTC. A few people on OCUK have got their HO's coming tomorrow via P4U, once they start to post up camera samples we'll know for sure.

@stoosh

Indeed! :D

No problem :) Yeah, I usually hate any white tech. stuff, however, I like the white one X and really quite like that too.

Yup, they seem to be pretty good with the support so far (wasn't expecting them to be) and they seem to be friendly/good with regards to the developing community:

The camera hardware is there so they could bring further improvements to it, it uses the same sensor as the xperia Z, which will also be used in the GS 4 (supposedly)

Good spot sarge, didn't really pick up on that first time, centre looks the sharpest followed by the left and the right side is just a blurry mess :/

The White HOX was a looker and with the SLCD super sharp screen that flowed over the edges it looked stunning :)

Im pleasantly surprised with the support, will have to look into importing one of these fine phones if all the other flagships fall by the wayside which seems to be the case

So there is hope for the likes of you and I Nexus...;)

You can see it one this one too > http://cdn.gsmarena.com/pics//13/03/htc-one-xperia-z-samples/camera/gsmarena_003.jpg

Those review sites should've picked it up straight away tbh, they seem to have put the down to the 4MP resolution. :D

Yup there as well.

I was thinking that it was the software etc. (going by the lumia 920 etc.) but now that you have pointed that out, definitely seems like it is a lens alignment issue and could be why these have been delayed....

Indeed! :D Rather embarrassing considering they are suppose to be "experts".......... :o :p

@stoosh

Yup still some hope if all else fails! :D

Good news and bad news... good news is that my phone was delivered today! Bad news is that it was delivered to my billing address and not the delivery address I arranged with phones4u, so it's currently 200 miles away.

Anyone cancelled their pre-order now having seen the S4? :p

I've just ordered the One having seen the S4 launch :p

S4 isn't my cup of tea design wise at all. Specs are certainly impressive but not that much better over the One to tempt me away from the One's design. Also, I actually really like Sense. Having rooted my Desire HD to Jelly Bean Vanilla I'm missing the Sense skin :-(

HTC needs to get some proper people in to rewrite their image processing routines. Looks like their software is going to ruin what has the potential to be a great camera. Lets hope that gets sorted out via an update.

Hopefully it will. I've just had a dispatched text from Vodafone so it looks like the delay wasn't too much to worry about.
