***The Official HTC One Thread***

E-mail through from Phones4U saying my phone has been dispatched, complete with tracking number for Royal Mail Special Delivery! :D

Congratulations Mate. Look forward to the usual then ;)

Nice, pictures and stuff when it arrives.

Does this mean HTC are actively shafting certain suppliers?!

Yep, as suspected I'm afraid. Idiots they deserve to fail. Am so not impressed

CNET UK REVIEW

http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/htc-one-review-50010439/

Conclusion
"With its super-crisp, bold screen, monstrously powerful processor, all-metal chassis and fun, attractive interface, the One is a real contender among this year's high-end smart phones. Its BlinkFeed software might be a gimmick, but overall it provides a classy, user-friendly experience.

It's likely to be a very pricey piece of kit, but you are at least getting a whole lot of tech your money. If you're after top of the range performance and don't care about saving for your autumn years, the HTC One is a great option to consider. We'll have to wait and see how it ranks among the best of 2013, but HTC has certainly done a good job."

Detailed review Nexus, thanks for that. I'm not really feeling the camera, it seems to perform better in low light as opposed to normal conditions. The hype surrounding HTC's ultrapixels might not cut the mustard in real life situations.

Here's an example from CNET's review

Iphone 5

HTC One

I'm no expert when it comes to photos but the Iphone does look much better and captures far more detail than the HO. The colours on the HO look washed out and looks as if something is smeared on the lens.

The HTC One picture above looks utterly terrible compared to the iPhone 5. I don't think anyone will be disagreeing with that!

It's horrendous and is way below average. How on earth HTC can say that Ultrapixel is advanced beyond me.

If the camera performs like that then it's a deal breaker for me. I don't take too many pictures but I need a phone that can capture moments when I'm out and about and this just doesn't cut the mustard. :(

Paul O'Brien posted this picture comparing the Black and Silver versions, if you look closely you can see abit of what looks like chipping on the black version.
It could be dust though....

If it is chipping then maybe that's why HTC have delayed the black version.

Are you two blind?!?! The HTC one looks far better there

:p

Yeah, looking at all the samples so far, I am definitely not impressed with the htc one camera (only photo comparisons where I have been impressed with it were the first iphone 5 VS htc one photos, but then most people here thought the iphone 5 was better :p)

The photos do remind me of the lumia 920 when it was first released though i.e. soft/blurry with no real detail captured but vastly improved with an update

http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/17/lumia-920-camera-fix/

If the camera remains as it currently is i.e. software update or whatever doesn't fix it, then htc messed up big time and for me is the "deal breaker", could not put up with it. Just puzzles me as to why it looks noticeably worse when the camera hardware is there, heck my Samsung soul u9000 produced sharper photos and that was only 5MP :p.

I think the dedicated image sense chip and/or in conjunction with software is causing problems.

It looks generally pretty rough along the edge there (on the top pic).

Yeah Robbo and I both suffer from a bout of blindness from time to time :p

I don't think a software update will be forthcoming from HTC re the camera. Call me cautious or extremely pessimistic...I just don't see it happening.
The poor camera is a deal breaker for me....

Will wait for further user reviews before I hit the cancel button again.

*sigh*

I think Samsung will have the GS4 pretty much nailed on, they tend to get all the important things right (even if the designs do polarise opinion).

Indeed! :(

I am sure that the GS 4 won't disappoint as much overall, only thing that has disappointed me so far with it (from that detailed review of the prototype) is touchwiz.

The device that has impressed me the most so far is the oppo 5.

Will probably talk myself to get the S4, even if Samsung do repeat the design again. Will have to root it and install a custom ROM, theme and rid any traces of touchwiz.

Don't know if the Oppo 5 will come to the UK Nexus, it certainly is a unique device and if you do manage to buy one then you will be in a unique position as there aren't many oppo 5 owners in the UK! :)

Android central comparison to the nexus 4:

Yeah I don't think it will either stoosh, they supposedly had plans to, however, I think that depended on how well it did in the USA etc. first and unfortunately.........not very well :( Shame as overall it is very good (surprisingly!) and had a low price tag considering the specs, imo better than the xperia Z and on par with the htc one.

Classy design isn't it - though a bit generic. I'd still take it over the pebble nightmare :)

Indeed, generally not keen on white tech. stuff but like the white one X, it looks good :p

Decent comparison to the Nexus 4, good find yet again! :)

The camera samples stack up well but I think that the Nexus 4 produces slightly better pictures as colours aren't as washed out, but hey I'm no expert when it comes to pictures! I'll leave that to the likes of you! :D

You got that right, I think it's being released in the US first before it makes it's way over here. Mobicity are supposed to have it in stock soon but they sell phones for inflated prices :( and I can't see you wanting the oppo 5 so badly that you will pay over the odds for it.

The Nexus 4 is a decent phone and for the price you can't go wrong, I know how much you like a good camera though, and with the HOS I think you've been spoilt! You can't go for a downgrade camera wise :p
