***The Official HTC One Thread***

I'm pretty much sold on this phone now. I went out today and visited every phoneshop in bolton and was absolutly bull******* by every single one in terms of specs dates, performance etc. I didn't really ask any questions they all just spilled out a load of untrue information. To be fair, Virgin didn't.

Three, who I will ulitimatly be moving to told me that the phone was rubbish and I should get the sony Z instead. it has a much better camera and screen and that's the phone that HE was getting next - it's the best phone on the market now etc etc and way better than the one. What was really funny is that he gave me a lecture on how important a flash was to have on a phone and that the HTC one didn't have one so I wouldn't be able to take pics in the dark - idiot! (megapixel count came up too!)

Phones4U didn't know anything about it or have any prices or anything ' I haven't got a clue' was the only answer I got there. despite them having a plastic model with a little insert advertising their 'best selling accesory this month' for the One. ha.

Carphone warehouse said that the launch has been but pack ot the end of april 'cos HTC got scared that the Galaxy S4 was being launched then innit'

Someone else told me that no one knows anything about the phone as no one has had their hands on it yet.... I'm sure there are some people who work in phone shops who are passionate enough to know the score on new kit and follow forums such as XDA etc, but I've never ever come across anyone who has had any clue what-so-ever. I'm on the ball with new things in my field, why arn't they?

can skip all my moaning about phone shops above and read this bit:

Lastly, a lot of reviews say the white / black lines / T shape on the back of the phone is embedded plastic, however on the dummy phones it's just printed on as it was easily scratched off the shiny edge when (I noticed it was worn off already so give it some more and it just came off)

Is this just the dummy? or have some reviewers ot it wrong and it is actually just printed lines?

RB

No the white plastic is injected moulded into grooves cut into the back. The white rim of the phone is also plastic.

the demo model i've played with was plastic.. can't see them spending 200+ hrs on demo models to cut them out of aluminum.

After seeing that the S4 is pretty much just an upgraded S3 I've decided to get one of these, looks classy as hell and looking forward to the sound upgrade too

Like a lot of people I have had S1 S2 and S3 so thought the next phone would be S4. Then I seen it and thought meh, maybe I will skip this generation.

However, my girlfriend had smashed her galaxy s3 screen, so I am tempted to get the Htc one ( which looks stunning!) and give her my s3 :D

The trouble with the S4 for me is because they haven't really changed the design it just feels like a S3 apart from the updated screen, lets be honest the S3 is still a power house under the bonet and we are yet to see how good the 13mp camera is, as Sony have shown more mp doesn't mean a better camera.

Good on HTC for going out with the design like they have and made a good premium feeling phone.

I've ordered from Rainforest as I had a £53 voucher, got a media link HD all for £473 which isn't bad. I originally ordered the black one but seeing the Silver version so many times it grew on me and switched the order to the Silver. I can't wait to get this phone after seeing all the reviews.

Good stuff mate - when's it due for delivery?

Played with one yesterday. Couldn't get much of a feel in the high pressure sales bull world of phones4u but I loved what I saw. The feel of the device is just spot on.

Very light as well which surprises me.

yup and thats the problem.. if there is a problem with the software/hw on some headsets then do i just sit and wait for htc to hopefully sort them out or do i just get s4 when it is out and not worry about these problems(who knows what problems it will come with no recent phone launch seems to go without some big mess up - excluding sony here! well done them)

Do what you do with anything you buy ever. Buy it, if it ain't right, change it....

What an enormous waste of money such a buying process must be.

Make sure its right, buy it, keep it.

Only once have I ever bought something significant without feeling it was 100% right beforehand hoping I'd grow to like it after and that's the only time I've ever regretted a purchase and got rid of it in the short term. Buying like that is a massive waste of money.
