So 3 'hours' behind the Galaxy S II. That's not bad at all and I'd say I've had similar results to that.

And 2 hours more than the One S... :p

What I do now when I am loading web pages is just pull the notification bar down and once the page is loaded it goes back up itself, but loading pages is so fast sometimes it loads the page quicker than I can pull the notification bar down :p

Only seen your battery life report now Robbo, that isn't bad, better than what the majority of people are reporting.

Yeah, it did turn out a bit better than I thought it would.

The % isn't being reported properly a lot of the time though, HTC need to sort that out. It sits on a certain percentage for a while and then suddenly drops a few %, the Sensation did this as well. I think there may be cases where people are under the illusion the battery may be lower than it actually is as well.

People should actually try and run it flat to see how it turns out, mine seemed to last a bit longer the lower the battery got... odd.

For example, under 20% most people would probably stick it on charge, but it may actually have 35% left (or perhaps not such a large gap as that, but you get the idea).

I personally haven't noticed that with my S, the battery meter seems pretty much spot on and level throughout, maybe a bit quicker at dropping from 100-80, but after that it is fine.

As soon as I hit 15% it is time to charge.

My spica was dreadful for this though, no matter what ROM I tried, as soon as I hit 50%, the thing would drain sooooo much quicker.

Also could you check this out on your X for me please:

Anyone notice that it takes a while for emails (gmail) to come through?

When I receive an email, I get an instant update on my firefox gmail tab and my Samsung Spica notifies me a few seconds later, where as with the S, it takes at least 3 minutes or more till the notification comes through.

Not a huge issue but an annoying little niggle........

Not sure if this is just a problem with the gmail app or sense. Can't see it being a problem with the phone/hardware :p

Sure.

I just sent myself an email from another account. It came through almost instantly on the Galaxy S II (just been fiddling with it :p), a few seconds later on the Gmail tab on my PC, and it took just under 2 minutes to arrive on the One X...

Hmm. I bet HTC have buggered it up somewhere!

I just tried it again and it took about 25 seconds to arrive, and hasn't arrived on the Galaxy S II yet...

 :p

Edit: It arrived on the Galaxy S II just now, several minutes later.

I just have a real sweet spot for the galaxy nexus design. Will have to mull it over.

I could keep the HOX for a little while and sell it on for not much loss.

I am still pretty stuck in a similar situation. Love the hardware of the One X but I can't find a single improvement in HTC Sense.... I miss stock ICS. Just can't decide which phone to keep :( grrr. Guess someone should release an AOSP ROM soon though... did the Sensation get one?

Yes it did, and the One X will too eventually.

Right,

I got my One X delivered on Thursday and I really really like it

Been quite busy though so haven't played around with it much

First thoughts are that it seems like a very very nice phone with an amazing screen ... although the screen uses a LOT of my battery lol

I did notice a flicker this morning, but that was with the screen brightness on minimum, as soon as I turned the brightness up (even only to 10%ish) the flicker disappeared

Also I have mobile network on and roaming on, however the phone seems very slow to load things like facebook etc. It might just be slow in my area as I do not have 3G where I live, so it is currently on 'G' for GPRS I'm guessing, also at the moment I'm having problems with my home internet (BT have messed something up when fixing the phoneline) so I have no wifi to connect to either, haven't been anywhere other than home with the phone, so I'm guessing that once I am somehwere with 3G though things that use the internet should be a LOT quicker I hope

It is so slow currently that when trying to download some apps, I just get 'connection timed out'.

Also a quick question, once I have texted someone (if I have them on Facebook) it links their display picture and puts it in my phonebook, however I was wondering is there a way to sync all the contacts that I have a phone number for with their Facebook display pictures ... without messaging them

Sorry if I don't reply instantly, might be a while with these internet problems

:)

You must just live in an area where you don't get good reception for mobile data connection (as you stated :p) or you have "only GSM" network mode selected.

Goto settings>mobile network>network mode>WCDMA only

H is the fastest followed by 3G and then G (in other words 2G) and G really is slow! Only thing it is worthwhile for is letting you know when you receive an email :p

If you don't get a good speed/connection type by doing the above then do the following:

Go onto your network provider's website and look at the coverage checker for your area and see what you should be getting according to them.

Don't know about that last part as I don't use facebook so :p

I was surpsied that I don't get 3G as it is NOT like I live in the middle of nowhere ... turns out I DO get 3G and I actually just had it on the wrong setting ... amatuer mistake lol, I had it on the 'GSM / WCDMA auto' option, put it on the one you mentioned and I now DO have 3G :D :D :D Thanks, lol

EDIT: Oooohhh I have 'H' too :p Well, it was on 'H' and now back to 3G, better than 'G' I guess lol

Any disadvantage of not using the 'Auto' option? Think I just lost signal completely for a second or so then, so I had no connection then. Is there not a way to select 'Auto' but prioritise WCDMA?

Yeah I think the WCDMA/3G/H signal is weak here, as a few times already after posting this I have had no signal whatsoever, then can't make calls or anything

I had the same problem with my S as well, seemed to "prefer" the G connection (when on auto), probably to save battery life as 3G/H consumes a fair bit more power than G, so forced it to only use H/3G and is now constant H/3G when mobile data is activated.

Yeah it does that a fair bit, flicks between H and 3G every now and again, particularly as soon as you turn the mobile data connection on first time, but it should settle on either H or 3G after a few seconds depending on coverage etc.

As far as I know there is no way to make the WCDMA the preferred mode on auto, maybe if you have rooted or/and a custom ROM on....

Check the coverage checker on your network provider's website and if it is weak coverage then you will experience those cut outs quite often, so better off leaving the GSM connection only then.

You can download speedtest from the play store to see what your dll, upload and ping are like on mobile data connection for 3G/H connection.
