*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Morning all, just a quick question.
A friend has just got a O2 branded One X, I have a sim free One X, her phone is drinking the battery where as I get good battery hours.
For example when you view battery usage my battery shows the screen as taking 34% of the battery and hers is using 51% both phones have auto brightness on. My Android OS is using 34% hers is using 51%, I have a shed load of apps on my phone she has just 4.

I'm wondering if this is due to O2 branding the OS or is it a problem with the phone

All of that is irrelevant without screen on time data.

How do you get to the Beats Audio settings?

I assume he just means equaliser.

I have a slide lock, and don't use any lock screen apps. Can I get rid of the slide ring and jump straight to the unlock screen when pressing the power button to activate the screen?

How does the camera upload to dropbox work? I took some pictures (Wifi was on) last night and they weren't in my dropbox this morning?

I've just started looking through them on my phone and they're trickling into dropbox now.

It's not abundantly clear how it works nor is there any functionality i can see to force it to sync with dropbox. Any ideas?

There is a setting for it. Check that. Then, when you open dropbox, the second icon (middle one) of the three shows what is waiting to be uploaded and why it's not currently uploading.

I've found it to be very good for me. Uploading an erroneous photos before I can even delete them.

I had the same issue a couple of days ago. Instead of uploading instantly as usually occurs, the photos uploaded a couple of hours later when I put my phone on charge. I wondered whether it doesn't sync photos if the battery is low. Alternatively, it could just be that Dropbox was unable to sync at the time due to server issues etc

A question for the one X owners as well :p

Anyone notice that it takes a while for emails (gmail) to come through?

When I receive an email, I get an instant update on my firefox gmail tab and my Samsung Spica notifies me a few seconds later, where as with the S, it takes at least 3 minutes or more till the notification comes through.

Not a huge issue but an annoying little niggle........

Not sure if this is just a problem with the gmail app or sense. Can't see it being a problem with the phone/hardware :p

Sense is more than just a launcher :p It runs throughout the phone.

I know the gmail app isn't a sense app as well :p, but I am not sure if it is just a problem with this version of gmail (or possibly a ICS problem?) as my spica is on a much older version of gmail (on android 2.2 as well :o)

Cheers mate that's what i was after!

I had a play with the One X today and the phone itself feels brilliant and actually looks/feels slimmer and better in the hand than the Galaxy S2 with extended battery but it's not as nice to hold as the Galaxy Nexus, the GN coating on the back feels more confident, that it won't slip out...

Anyway, the screen is wicked and the filter on top makes stuff look like it's floating above the screen surface right on the front instead of behind a layer of glass.

I did notice some juddering in SenseUI and the camera broke on the demo model (!). I do not like SenseUI launcher or the layout of Sense, it just seems too dated compared to pure ICS, not as iPhone-esque like TW UI is but still primitive all the same. This is my POV coming from ICS.

I also felt the raised camera lens section in silver looked and felt a bit tacky.

I've just run the battery flat since fully charging it yesterday. The brightness is locked at 30%. This is roughly an ideal level as it's perfectly visible and vibrant in most conditions aside from sunlight. Auto brightness doesn't seem to be a lot worse, but it's not as efficient as manual management (obvious, really).

Rough usage includes:
  • 2 hours listening to music
  • 1.5 hours of watching a HD video file (on the stock player)
  • 25 pictures taken
  • 20 minute phone call
  • It was on wifi about 60% of the time - mobile signal was generally good everywhere
  • 1.5 hours of browsing
  • 30% brightness (as above)
  • Twitter/Facebook on hourly sync, weather 2 hours, Viber running constantly
  • Totally stock phone

So, generally the battery life is decent. As I can't remember precise battery figures from the Nexus and S2 I've charged them up and I'll play the same video file on each and see what the percentages are like after the files have stopped playing.

Ultimately, normal usage and sensible brightness levels mean that you won't run this flat in a day - no chance. I've used it more than I normally would (I don't often watch videos on it) in order to stress the battery a bit.

I think it's done pretty well.

You have done well with that. I guess I better do some optimising as mine lasts from 16 hours on a good day to 11 hours on a heavier day.
