*** The official HTC One X thread ***

didnt know that...thought it was software :(

shame on them..

wonder how they managed to do there adverts as some contained hd video being taken via the phone and non of it was juddering? hence thought it was software issue..

suppose the video captured was taken by a proffession camera and relayered over the top of the advert sequence :D

who knows... rofl

The custom roms only fix issues with the build that comes out, so when HTC release another update they then take that and tweak it, the video if you use ICS+ camera is pretty good and shows it probably is only software as its only really bad on the stock one, I took that below leaning over the fence at my sisters so its shaky as hell as I couldn't keep my hand still it has a higher bit rate of 26,687 but the developer is still working with it as its only doing 25fps max atm, so will look better on 30.

Its not perfect but its plenty good enough for a phone for me but is compressed on youtube as usual, I was moving the phone fast in places as I was testing the update out for ics+ to see how it coped, so you wouldn't be doing that in normal use.

That video is stuttery Jabbs, plus the metering scene is the same in the garden. Go from a dim area to a light one and it's even worse as the sensor metering shifts exposure. That's what I mean.

Metering faults art hardware problems. I've only seen this on HTC phones as well.

I guess it depends how important the video is in the end, for me the camera is the main use of my phone and this camera is extremely good, I have taken probably 9 videos on this since having the phone, the only phone I ever took lots of videos on was the Optimus 3D for the obvious reason.

I do agree with the metering modes it seems every one htc have done always have these issues, the video below is with the stock app, I am on a custom rom with the latest update that is out for it, I think that looks better than the ICS+ camera tbh.

well went into 2 of the main phone dealers today..

the car one was very helpful and due to the recall of the blue sg3 i only had the white available to try out.

white was very nice if a bit shiny almost same as the white Note :D still not sure on the rim on whether its metal or plastic..the rep said metal i think plastic.
he took the rear off and it was that thin it folded completely 180 end to end :D crazy
anyway still not liking that curve shape but the display was very good in my opinion of course..with very high contrast...crisp....hard choice.

next i went to the one x ...thought someone here said it was a matt white?
anyway its got a smooth rear (polished marble :D ) i looked at the white one as that was plugged in to try.. the grey one has a slight rubbery finish but that was demo only.

very nice phones now i seen them both but OMG is the One x thin :p that thing is a credit card i tell you :D :D well almost :D. sooo thin and light, heck i compared it to sg2 and One-x was way thinner .

found the video a little better on the samsung as one x was auto correcting all the time for focussing but then it was straight out of a box and not setup for anything so that feature can be deactivated.

really dont know now ive been talking down the sg3 cause of it looks but its not too bad since i like the white note looks but i really hate the curves..they dont seem right with the design...and i found the camera and screen good while one x i love the design, screen and has a good camera even if it not up to sg3 level its still very good.

cant see why people moan about the screen being big :D the case is no bigger than the galaxy 2

well im well and truly cornered :D

The rim of the S3 is plastic, it just looks like metal, so you're right there!

Yep and they have the gall to charge £550 for a sim free one lol. Build wise i definitely prefer the One X, software wise i think the SGS3 edges it for me but not by much.

Ill get one but ill wait for the blue one then decide which one to keep or sell ie the One X or SGS3.

What cases is everyone using? I really need to get a case for mine. It's currently living in an old nokia n73 bag/case

Im using a fitbag, got mine from the rainforest place...think it cost me about £20 all in and is a very nice pouch, alacantra on the outside and inside has a microfibre cloth so as you slide your phone in or out, it cleans the screen.

I just got the 'One X Premium PU Leather flip case' which costs £4.90.

Protects the phone very well and has all the gaps for connections and camera.
Only thing I don't like is, it makes the phone quite bulky and a little uncomfortable if in my jeans pocket.

just a question most probably got it set up wrong but whenever i try to recieve voicemail or call someone from my one x i het a message no internet calling account this is even using the shortcut key number 1 for voicemail any ideas ?

Got my Phones4u order process confirmation email at 12.30 yesterday, really hope it gets dispatched today so I have it to play with over the weekend else I won't get it until Wednesday at the earliest :(.
