Re. the battery.

Idle usage is awesome on my phone; practically a flat line on the battery usage graph. However, screen on time is horrendous - practically a vertical line :p

Tegra power consumption fail? Or screen fail?

both - and small battery fail :p

what kind of screen on time are you getting from a full charge? at what brightness?

I've got a problem with my HOX, wondering what I can do. I got the vodafone 12 month contract deal about 3 weeks back from P4U. Basically I'm getting no signal emergency calls only most of the time. I have another vodafone htc and it gets full signal in the same places the HOX doesn't.

I did a quick test today. With the phone showing no signal I turned plane mode on then off, I then saw a 'preparing sim' message pop up and then I had signal. I didn't move the phone during the test.

Any ideas? The phone is basically useless in it's current state and 60% of the time when I check my phone I have this issue.

I had a similar problem with my GG sim same thing would happen but would work fine in other phones. But using my main Vodafone sim I get no issues.

First thing to do would be to get the sim replaced and see if that solves the issue. It could be the sim card is not sitting properly.

Some pano shots of Turkey, just got back today at 3am! 10 days of sunshine back to rain  These are taken on the HOX.

Awesome pictures, how did you manage the panorama shots with the HOX camera?

Is it an option, as I can't see one?

Press the 'A' in the corner of the camera interface.

Those pictures are absolutely incredible, arguably some of the best I've ever seen from a phone camera. Superb.

Thank you so much for quoting all those pics Saint2k, after all it's been such a long time since they were first posted.

What is HTC's obsession with including pathetically small batteries in its flagship phones? It's a joke.

I'm seriously tempted to move from an iPhone 4S to an HTC One X. Anyone recommend me some good places I can read up about all the lingo of HTC?

Never had an android phone before and hearing all about rooting etc.

I got this phone over the weekend and I'm wondering, what do people think of the sound quality when listening through headphones? I have some Sennheiser CX300II and I think it's terrible. For starters there's a constant hiss in the background that stays the same volume regardless of how loud the music is. Secondly the maximum volume is too low and thirdly, above about 70% volume the distortion is so bad when something loud plays it's like there's a snare drum playing along with it in the background. Does anyone else have the same problems?

Yes, the hissing noise is a right pain. It seems to go down quite a bit on mine if you turn the beats off, but then obviously you lose quality.

I've never had any of those issues I'm afraid. Even with the Beats audio on. But then again, I'm using Poweramp so it could be related to the built in music player?

I've got all sound tweaks off and it happens in whatever sound application I use (poweramp, bsplayer, the standard music app). There is also a noticeable click when the sound has finished and before the hissing goes away. I might have a faulty unit so I'm going to try and find a Vodafone shop with a test unit and see if that has the same problem.

I've been reading around and what I describe isn't uncommon.

Used the voice navigation for the first time today. Useless. Not the actual software, the GPS was pinpoint accurate (though the route it picked was waaaay not the fastest one) but the volume. Couldn't hear a word of the instructions.

I know the HOX volume isn't high but it really was useless, even turned up full. Anyone come up with a way of getting good sound out of the speaker? I'm guessing, as it's hardware, probably not....

Has anyone else noticed Locations picking better routes than Navigation too?

Have to admit I sometimes get 'no signal' on my HOX for no apparent reason.....usually, turning Airplane mode On then Off resolves (along with the 'Preparing SIM' message).
I figure it is something to do with how the SIM sits, and will get round to trying to re-seat it......thing I have noticed is that, when the 'error' occurs, searching for networks etc. always fails too, which suggests that the SIM is the problem.

Just had mine back from HTC (Repaired for yellow spot on screen).

The service was pretty good, they did take 8 days, but I had phone calls from support to apologise without having to prompt them.

The phone seems OK, it's a different serial number to the one I sent in, but had all my 'settings' on it. The upside was I had forgone the Dropbox 25Gb since the original owner (second hand phone) had swiped it.. Since this is effectively a new phone, I got the 25Gb allocated as soon as I logged it into Dropbox, so that's a small bonus.

I have to say, after downloading the updates*, I really did miss this phone, it's far far quicker then you ever need (even if not quickest in class), and the styling/screen are just a joy to use, I can't get over how much slicker the browsing experience is compared to even my old DHD..

* - The latest firmware definitely seems a lot slicker, especially if your turn on the Force GPU Rendering developer option which now actually works..
