*** The official HTC One X thread ***

The One X looks fantastic! Well done HTC.

Would be the perfect new phone if it had a slightly higher capacity battery (and therefore slightly thicker) and an option to flash a non Sense ROM.

Which one does everyone else think is the best overall out of the one S, GS 2 and the galaxy nexus? (particularly want to hear your thoughts robbo, sarge and kona :p)

Did your testing unit have the update that is mentioned here:

Can't confirm either way, didn't know there was an update in all honesty - it just was munching the battery via screen power in a sort of "i can watch it go down as I use it" type way. These guys review stuff for a living though so I'd be willing to take their word for it though.

Probably the One S out of those three. It really depends on your uses/requirements and how much you want stock Android.

There's nothing at all wrong with the Galaxy Nexus but its weak spec sheet (screen aside) is going to take a beating now.

Go for the One S if you like Sense, otherwise get the Galaxy Nexus. The Nexus has a better screen and stock Android, both of which are big advantages.

Yeah that's what I thought as well! :p

My main uses are/will be:

- Web browsing, love the pages to load/render quickly as well as being smooth when scrolling, one S seems to be the best for the loading/rendering, but what about the smoothness? Is it as smooth as the GS 2 scrolling? (haven't seen this mentioned in the reviews or maybe I just missed it :p)

- Media playing capabilities, want to be able to stream/play 1080P 10+ GB MKV content smoothly (on my mobile as well as connecting it to the TV downstairs), the one S shouldn't have a problem regarding hardware, but could the sense/software hold it back?

- Camera, One S seems to be the best here as well for quality and features overall

- Battery life too early to tell really, but so far the one S sounds very promising and could be better than the other 2

- Regarding the screen, the One S seems great and better than the GS 2 but the GN has 720P, bah......

- design and perceived build quality is much better for the one S but the durability compared to the gs 2 and gn won't be as good

And all the other general things.

Then the software/skins, love stock android, but also really like the look of sense 4.0 (I would end up putting go launcher with my own widgets on either way, for both mobiles [pretty much using mrk's layout ¬_¬ :p]).

I just hate how there is sooooooooo much stuff in sense, which isn't needed still. I presume the support from XDA will be good for the One S as well.

I guess it will come down to price in the end! :p Either between the GN and the one S now hmm.........

Will that matter in reality though? Surely they are both ridiculously powerful for a phone.

They should both be very fast - the S4 will be a fair bit faster in cpu intensive tasks. This should be more clear after more phone come out with the S4 and comparisons are made.

In everyday use, the Tegra 3 should be fast - but I asked a questioned earlier:

Anyone with the One X - does the phone grind to a halt when installing apps?
I saw this happen when I had the Prime (tegra 3).

For me it would still be the SGSII that wins as it got the better camera/camcorder and big battery (extended if you need it) sd card, exynos, still a great screen, looks smart.

But why get the S2 now - wait for the S3.

Yeah, I'd wait and see what impact the SGS3 has on prices, are you buying sim free or with a new contract Nexus?

Imagine if Kepler had been 40nm, the GPU boys would've gone mental! :D
You get much better power consumption, less heat, miles better single threaded performance and... massive overclocking potential j0!!!

Been speaking to Paul from Modaco - I bought his SGS2 previously and he's saying its a worthy upgrade to go for the One X. I don't particularly need an external SD now, since I mainly use Spotify for music and the photos can auto upload to dropbox.

Edit: If you want to buy the SGS2 I can sell for £200 :P

Thread is lacking pictures :p

The reviews are saying that the one S has the best camera to date (don't know about the one X, as I haven't read too much about it :p) along with all the features like the filters.

Yeah the extended battery is also a plus for the GS 2 as well as the SD card, but I think I would be pretty safe with 16GB and then 25GB for dropbox. The screen is still great but I just feel that the res. is pretty old gen now and is the main thing that puts me of it :( Looks wise, I like them all.

But the GS 3 most likely won't be till May :(

My contract ends on the 19th this month, so getting a new contract (not too bothered by 24 month contracts as long as the mobile still works quickly and smoothly enough) but not sticking with 3 as reception is dreadful, so going back to o2. Don't want to spend much more than £20 a month, no fee up front and if a fee is required, then no more than £40 :p (cheapskate, I know :o). Happy with 500MB data (would prefer 1GB though), 200 min and 500 texts.

Yeah the video recording is a bit dodgy in some videos :( I would use the camera more often than recording though and some of the features for the camera/video recording like the capturing a photo whilst recording and the "machine gun series of continuous shots " :p is pretty useful and kind of makes up for the problems in the video recording area, I reckon.

Hopefully it is just a problem with software and will be fixed sometime soon.
