*** The official HTC One X thread ***

Alright my One X has arrived!

T-Mobile upgrade £25 a month 600min, 500texts, 3gb data, no handset cost, 18 months.

They sent the phone with a new micro-sim card which I've put in, but cannot connect to any mobile network. A thing keeps popping up to choose a network and no matter what I choose (t-mobile, orange, o2, vodafone) it just says "Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network" What does that mean and why?

I imagine I don't take the sim out of my old phone and put it in the new one, that wouldn't make sense would it?

Phone seems amazing off the bat, the screen is so gorgeous and puts the Desire HD to shame, you actually realize how bad the Desire HD screen is after switching between the two for a while. Android/Sense 4.0 is great, it's all very slick and feels great in the hand visually and physically. The carbon plasticity feel is awesome. I don't imagine I'll stick with Sense down the road though. Don't think this phone will need a case either.

I told it to bluetooth sync my contacts from my old phone and it somehow important over 1000+ results so I've some ****** sorting to do.

The only bad thing so far (apart from no mobile network connection) is the amount of default apps the phone comes with that you can't uninstall. I swear there's like 20+ apps that are permanent. Not all of them are bad but it's still frustrating especially when I'm the type of user who knows nothing of that rooting lingo for the hyper nerds :P

Even though I'm with T-Mobile, they had it sent to me via ChitterChatter so there's no T-Mobile launch screen or apps, but I guess ChitterChatter fill it with permanent apps anyway it seems.

Just had a bit of a panic. While waiting for my number to port over to my new sim I've been using my T-Mobile sim in the phone. Just now I put my Orange sim in to check a few things and the message "IMEI Locked" popped up

I restarted the phone and all is well but that gave me a bit of a scare.

You'll need to get your number provisioned onto the new SIM - give them a call or there might be a form where you can do it online like O2 have (I'll put the link below for any new O2 One X users):

The desire HD screen is the worst screen I have ever seen on a mobile device, even worse than my i5700 IMO :p

Just a completely washed out display.

So it isn't exactly hard for the X to beat it :p :D

How on earth did you manage to get that contract?!

I have been on the phone nagging to get it for 36 a month for even 24 months and they quite simply refuse!

Then you get this badboy?

I tried 3 times and they just wouldn't budge.

I'm taking all these deals people are getting with a pinch of salt.

It was simple, I asked and they said sorry they can't offer anything yet, then I said give me my PAC code. Ten minutes later management called me begging not to leave and made the upgrade offer.

Tempted to do the same. But then I have been offered my contract on the the same price and free upgrade which isn't too bad I spose.

Neat but too bad it's just O2. I'll ring T-Mobile tomorrow. Maybe it's just the PAC code thing?

If you are just continuing you existing contract, i.e. upgrading on an existing account - getting a new phone and possibly changing your plan details, then you shouldn't need a PAC code you just need them to activate the new SIM against your account which should automatically associate the existing number with it. Until that has happened you won't be able to access network services on the new SIM card.

Like with the O2 address above it is possible to do this online with Orange too via your account (in theory, in practice it didn't work for me but it gave me the correct number to call to do it over the phone). Process for Orange is claimed to take up to 24hours (normally takes a couple but for me took 23 this time). Given that Orange and T-Mobile are now part of the same group I would imagine the process is similar for them.

Of course if you haven't upgraded and are actually ending one contract and starting a completely new one then ymmv.

Hah, I have always gone for black phones but for some reason I just think the One X looks great in white, maybe it is because the grey One X is exactly that, grey not black, just doesn't look right.

That's because the One X has clearly been designed around being white, that is why all initial press stuff had it in white as well. The grey is there for the people who absolutely can't stand white because of the iPhone. ;)

As I've said (and will keep saying), the white looks so good that if I could only get it in grey I wouldn't be getting one. It doesn't look remotely tacky at all. Less so than even the iPhone and that isn't exactly tacky either (the 3GS was).

I suspect this discussion is going to keep popping up as it did in the iPhone thread!

The shop here should be getting them in today or tomorrow so I'm picking mine up on Friday.

This is the screen I get:

Are you saying that this is normal for HTC sense? or is there anything I can do about it?

I find I type the occasional full stop by accident, still getting used to the touch screen keyboard. Have you got the vibration on key press activated? As thats supposed to help.

I don't know really, I think I need to learn more about android (having never had an android phone before) and I am hoping battery life sorts itself out once I get over the playing games stage and it goes back to just being a phone.
