**** The Official Huawei P20 Thread ****

The Pro version is the impressive one ;) The non_Pro is nothing special ;)

That was my first assumption. But I'm not so sure now to be honest.

The camera is the headline feature on the Pro. But going by DxOMark's review, there's a lot less in it than I expected. The P20 still outdoes all of the competition. The Pro basically adds better Zoom and an improvement to already decent low-light performance.

Aside from the camera, the differences are few. Same processor. Same screen resolution. Same physical design. The Pro gets 6GB RAM instead of 4GB, and it benefits from being "waterproof" (IP67). That's pretty much it.

The P20 seems like a really good handset. It's just overshadowed by the Pro. I guess I'm looking at the P20 thinking it's cheaper than my current contract, it's a good upgrade from my OP3, and there's an expensive pair of headphones bundled in. Win-win. Except there's this slightly more expensive, even better device that I could cough up for...

And also OLED VS IPS screen, bigger screen and bigger battery. But yeah not much in them ;)

I'd missed the screen tech bit.

To be honest, I know the Pro is better. I know it's easily worth the extra. I'm just trying to talk myself out of buying an £800 phone :p

Same here. Its in my basket on a vodafone 24 mths contract for £23 a month and £240 up front with £40 cashback for 4gb data. Same price as buying it sim free but you get a free contract. best deal by far

Yeah, it's an incredible deal. Just a shame there's such a large jump to get the data up above 10GB. I could probably manage with 8GB at a push.

Pushed the button. For £23 a month it was a no brainer especially since Ill get £200 back on the headphones. Makes it £552 in total over the 24 months with the £40 topcashback. That makes it a cheap phone and a free monthly sim. Plus ill get £200 for my S7 edge so really only going to cost me £352 over the two years. Not bad, not bad at all

No brainer indeed.

I need to ring O2 and give the retentions route a go first. Will be keeping the headphones. Haven't had a decent pair for years.

Remember the headphones are not guaranteed! Camera is looking to be very decent.

Not guaranteed but Huawei state in their conditions that if they run out yo7 get something else of equal of better value. So long as I can sell it for £200 I’m good.

I would normally have kept the headphones but I already own 4 pairs and the missus would kill me if I kept a 5th pair!

Put in the order for the P20 Pro for £23/m + £240 up front.
Should be a decent upgrade from my LG G4.
I've been with 3 for the last 4 years, how easy is it to port over your number to Voda/new contract?

What's the consensus on Vodafone these days? Currently with Three so interested to read any opinions.

I have EE on my personal phone and vodafone on my work mobile. I recently used both on a eurostar to paris last weekend. Verdict? Vodafone signal was 5 bars and couldn't load any youtube videos for 3/4 of the trip. EE by comparison was loading and playing youtube just fine. I gave my wife my vodafone as her phone battery was dead - she was very frustrated needless to say.

In general I've found Vodafone signal to be 5 bars usually everywhere but data is so-so. EE signal appears to be as patchy as Three but data tends to be pretty fast.

This is over 3 years of use in London and regional cities like Bristol, Manchester, Leeds, etc

Pretty good. I've been with them for years now (purely because it was either them or 3 for a signal where I live). Only thing I ever had against them was they tended to be more expensive than the other carriers for the same deal.

On this occasion they aren't.

Whenever I've gone abroad I've found Three to prevent any streaming from YouTube, Spotify etc so it looks like Vodafone aren't alone on that one.

Looks like it's between EE and Vodafone - EE have a good 8gb data offer for £200 upfront and £30 a month which is also pretty good. That 4gb Vodafone offer @ £23 a month is incredible though.

I wouldn't count on £200 from the headphones, the market will be flooded when everyone gets theirs.

I don't think too many people will be rushing to buy the P20. The average person just wants an iPhone or S9 and probably wouldn't even consider an Huawei.

Or just wait for the price to recover. Should only take a few weeks.

It happened with the Echo Show on both the occasions Argos eBay messed up. They were selling two for about £160. The going rate on eBay price fell from £140-£150 each down to about £110-£120 as the market was flooded by people trying to turn a quick profit. A couple of weeks later, the price recovered (until Argos messed up again).

I found this essentially by accident. I bought them intending to keep both. After a few weeks, the novelty wore off. Sold them at the end of January for ~£145 each.
