Conservative although living where I do, I may has well not bothered as its staunch Labour around here, a goat with a red rosette would win in these parts, and judging by the local councils performance, they already have!

No vote is wasted, call it a protest.

O.o

In my constituency the are 38 polling stations and I am in the sticks, a lot of constituencies will have 100+ polling stations.

Good point! Must have timed it just right the past few times! Doh! Wasn't thinking. :p

The other thing that strikes me is I wonder if people in general prefer someone who lives in the constituency. Some of the candidates live miles away so I struggle to see how they'd have a deep understanding of local issues.

I refuse to vote for any candidate that doesn't live in the constituency that they wish to represent.

Lord Steel has come out against another deal with the Conservatives.

No coalition deals at all, but he'd be okay with an agreement that delivers a Labour government in exchange for certain electoral and government reforms.

There's been mutterings about this for a while, so it's no surprise, but it's interesting to see the situation confirmed.

Someone local is preferable, but the reality is that the sort of local issues which will reach Parliament tend to be high-profile anyway, so the MP will usually know about them quite well.

Plus, there might not be any good local candidates. If your local area only has one person on the candidate list and they are crap, well its surely better they find someone better?

Just voted and happened to arrive at the polling station at the same time as the local labour candidate with a photographer in tow.

No queues and no busy-body numpties outside too !

UKIP for me , anyway you look at it the Conservatives have played a blinder in the fact that all they need is 1 more MP than Labour and they can take it as a right to govern with a minority .

I think a 2nd election is coming and that will be with Boris as con leader.

Voted LibDem as they're the only ones with an outside chance of keeping the Cons out in my constituency, even though a Con win seems pretty inevitable.

Not sure why you have a say in the first place tbh

Why ? they still are still British and should have a say in how the country they are born from and is their Nationality is run. As most (granted not all) Expats do eventually come back to the UK.

There are a lot of Civil Servants that work overseas that also got hit by this balls up that means they are not able to vote either. They still pay UK tax's and contribute to UK socity so why should they not be able to vote just because they screwed up the postal votes. Poor show if you ask me.

That said I registered to vote via Proxy so I'm covered.

For people people uncertain who to vote for today:

1. DO go and vote
2. Vote for the people you think will help everyone in society the most
3. Tell others to go vote!

:)

No.

Go and vote for who will benefit your own family the most. (Especially if you have kids)

That will give a truer reflection on where we are at as a country. Clearer picture of needs and wants.

This isn't how it works.

Erm i know that , But what will happen then when Labour just jump in with the SNP . What has been the Labour sound bite regarding any formal alliance ...

Its all spin and when/if Labour do that Conservative and certain papers , new channels and groups will scream bloody Mary .
