*** The official iOS 6 thread ***

has anyone else had problems with the new app store.

sometimes when you load the app store it shows the buttons at the bottom differently - sometimes it loads them as

Featured, Search, Updates, Categories, Top 25

select some of them like Top 25 and they give cannot connect to itunes store error.

close the app and reload it and it sometimes give the new version of

Featured, Charts, Genius, Search, Updates

Also noticed on the 4s the battery seems to drain a lot quicker than normal - used the phone today as i normally would and at lunch time it would normally be between 70-80% it was at 54% today after ios6

friend at work also had the same with is 4, had only used it for sending texts etc, his was at 60ish when it under the same usage would be 80+

No YouTube app... To be honest I never realised how useful google maps/street view was until this came out.

There's no defending this, it's a step backwards in my opinion.

So very true

:(

With the underground stations not listed properly it's needed. £1 map > iPhone £600 Maps.

A YouTube app is on the App Store.

IMO it's a step forwards. VIP lists in email, the improvements to the phone functionality and the Do Not Disturb outweigh the lack of a built in YouTube app that you can download separately. Not that bothered about the Maps as I use CoPilot.

The maps are a huge deal for me. I work in The City a lot seeing different clients and if I can't rely on the maps app to show me where the businesses are, where I can get something decent to eat and where the tube stations are, then it seriously deprecates the device in terms of usefulness.
It doesn't make my life harder, it just takes away from the overall package in such a way that it ruins the experience now.... And I'm a self confessed iPhone fanboy having owned every previous version of iPhone on launch day since the first one.

I'll give it a few weeks to see if Google release a good maps app for iOS, but if they don't, one of my iPhones will be getting replaced with an Android device.

I hate VIP lists, I want rid, but there is no option. Passbook is pointless in the UK. Letting google write their own Youtube app was smart. Maps is like raping babies.
The rest of iOS6 is fantastic and feels much better than iOS5. iCloud and iTunes match are now flawless for me.

didnt the silent switch do that ?

So did the off switch.

It's a bit cleverer than that. I've got it set from automatically from 11pm-7am. When the family call then it rings as it'll be an emergency. If anyone keeps calling back then it'll ring as it's probably an emergency. Anyone else can **** off.
