maps.google.co.uk ...

gps
directions
lables
public transport
satelliete images

the only thing it lacks is street view and double tap to zoom

Also lacks speedy usage and compass support (very useful in London to get your bearings).

I am using it for now but I shouldn't have to use a crappy web app. I didn't have to before but now Apple has decided for me. This I object to.

Since the update my e-mails no longer come through automatically. I have to go into mail and then it starts searching and loads any new emails.

How do I rectify this?

Thanks in advance.

Is wifi connection being lost and not auto joining a network a known bug? I have to re enter my wifi password every time my phone locks because my phone seems to lose the network.

I'm not getting this problem.

Maybe try reset network settings and rejoin your network?

Upgraded this morning and it seems fine, although the map is terrible - almost every pub in my neighbourhood (Brixton/Herne Hill) is misplaced and others are missing entirely. I am not going to have a lot of confidence in this when finding places in unfamiliar parts of London.

The maps are a huge deal for me. I work in The City a lot seeing different clients and if I can't rely on the maps app to show me where the businesses are, where I can get something decent to eat and where the tube stations are, then it seriously deprecates the device in terms of usefulness.
It doesn't make my life harder, it just takes away from the overall package in such a way that it ruins the experience now.... And I'm a self confessed iPhone fanboy having owned every previous version of iPhone on launch day since the first one.

I'll give it a few weeks to see if Google release a good maps app for iOS, but if they don't, one of my iPhones will be getting replaced with an Android device.

Couldn't agree more. If you work or live in London (Or any big city really) the mapping is pretty much indispensable.

I'm so annoyed with Apple, and I'm usually a pretty big fan. Love just about everything else about the new iPhone and IOS but no Google maps is going to be a deal breaker :(

Notice when I play games the battery just drains like crazy.
at 46% after 2 hours 9 mins use nearly 5 hours standby

I drove 160 miles from Oxford to North Wales yesterday and tried out the turn by turn navigation for the trip. I'm very impressed. Good clear instructions with ETA and time/distance remaining on display.

As I know the route well I did a couple of minor detours on the way to see how it would cope with on-the-fly route changes. For about the first mile it was directing me to the next junction to turn round and after that it recalculated the route and let me carry on.

The only downside was 85% battery usage in 3 hours but I could have made the screen a little dimmer to save a bit.

Since putting iOS 6 on my 4S my battery is just shocking.

On iOS 5 my battery would last a good 2 days before it got down to 10-20%, but now I've charged it twice today and I'm back down to 14% after 4 hours!

You need to go and change your settings - my install of iOS6 turned on my bluetooth, reactivated GPS for all the apps I'd disabled it for, and any manner of battery hungry things...

The satnav on maps work

This morning siri guided us to a remote location, he even named the roads we were on.

Have to say its a lot better than the old map app.
