*** The official iOS 6 thread ***

haven't read the whole thread so sorry if this has been mentioned, but has anyone elses Youtube app disappeared with the update to iOS6?

Yeah, i think i'll probably downgrade back to iOS5. Brings nothing to the table for 4 owners except a loss of speed.

Is 'Do Not Disturb' working for everyone else?

I put it on and whatsapp still notifies me when someone messages me. Annoying when I want to sleep. I have to manually turn off all the vibration settings. Doesn't bother me too much as this is what I'd do before but it kind of makes DND redundant.

So very true

Used the Maps app when leaving a job this morning... Here are a few screenshots...

The journey took about 1hr 20mins and it was pretty much flawless throughout. I turned off the voice commands because I don't normally use them anyway. I liked the fact that the navigation continues to give you directions when out of the app (See when I was in the Music app).

It's really nice to look at and works fairly well - but there are a few features missing that I miss from your normal Sat Nav app such as; Speed Cameras, Speed limits

I also think the ETA, and time left should be on the main map screen. You currently have to tap the screen to see the top bar which shows ETA, and miles left etc.

Overall - Fairly impressed, but will continue to use my normal sat nav app as I need the speed cameras :p

The satellite imagery is terrible though unless you live in a main city :(

ETA, miles left and to a degree - current speed - is absolute must. I can't think of a navi utility that wouldn't show progress and ETA.
And what's the point of having traffic overlay if it's not included in time calculation (as far as I can see) and changes in traffic conditions are not indicated on the screen?

I'm really starting the think this "dogs dinner" of a mapping application is going to remain useless for a very long time. The problem seems to be that the database apple is using is pish. I just don't see how this can be fixed quickly? I can't wait to see Apples response when google try to release their own mapping app. If they deny it access to the app store, the bun fight of all bun fights will break out. The resulting internet rage could bring the world to an end as we know it! On the other hand if they allow is access, I strongly suspect everyone will dump Apple maps. I just can't see Apple accepting that? The next few weeks and months are going to be interesting.

Apple will almost certainty recove from this hick-up. But it's possible this could be the first few cracks in their image. While the aerial problem was serious for some, it didn't impact quite so many people. Apple products are generally very good, but their sales heavily rely on the the snowballing Apple hysteria that seems to have ovetaken the technology market. If that gets dampend, it could be very difficult to recover.

I can no longer sync my Gmail Contacts with my iPad2 running iOS 6. The only options are Mail, Calendar and Notes. Anyone else?

Updated my ipod touch 4th gen and it was not worth it, app store is very slow and constantly keep crashing, checked apple forums and everyone is having the same problem.

I'm certainly not having any problems with the app store after the update, and it's now checking for updates without me having to access the store itself (something it never did before).

Does flyover work on the iPad and if so is there any UK location I can try it in?

Edit: Answered my own question, it is that little 3d building icon in the bottom left of the screen and it works on iPad, but it takes a long time to load details (on fast wifi). Maybe it is getting hammered as it is new. I typed in "London Eye" and I can see a lot of that area of London, looks pretty good.
