*** The Official iOS and iPadOS 18 Thread ***

Yet to see a single positive thing for the AI bloat so I'm glad I haven't got it on my phone. That said, I haven't updated my M2 MM to 15.2 yet....:o

On a different note, has anyone had issues with iOS Mail just being slow as hell and not fetching emails when you go into the app? I've never had issues before so just going into a nested folder that is empty and waiting for Mail to fetch all the headers+bodies takes forever. All it shows is Connecting... at the bottom of the screen but it does nothing.

Yes, mail has been poor on my phone since iOS 18.2.

I ditched the mail app not long ago. Got fed up that the notification bubble would appear straight away, but then no new email in the app. Had to force refresh and wait ages for it to come through.

The native Mail app is beyond terrible. As with many things, coders seem to think people have constant and reliable access to the internet and design the apps to function that way. In reality people often don’t have internet connectivity and Mail is a prime example of an app that is useless offline. Doesn’t seem to download emails offline, sometimes even with connectivity it struggles to download emails and you have to force quit and restart. Often when forwarding emails it then seems to try to redownload it and crashes. Awful.

Are there any alternatives that handle multiple email addresses e.g. gmail and apple accounts?

Gmail does support 3rd party email accounts. Apple’s 18.2 mail update does seem like they’ve tried to copy gmail to some degree with separating emails into different categories, which I like the idea of, but notifications seem to be broken now. For me at least.

I didn’t know that, thanks! I’ll just add everything to the Gmail app which is superior.
