Not particularly impressed with 18 at the moment. Battery is being drained with no apparent use. What was using the battery overnight? And it's going down faster then that in the day when I was using the phone! (the big blue background usage was a podcast while I fell asleep)



Also Music app is doing my head in. Will add an album, the a week later says that each track is not authorised. Also random tracks seem to 'un-download' from my phone. I'll be on a plane, and find that an entire album is in my library, but not downloaded. Even though it was downloaded when I added it.

My battery use is definitely worse since installing 18.1. I usually get 2 days out of my 15 Pro Max but last few days it’s been a day at best.

I'm assuming the release candidate will be today or tomorrow and the official release of 18.2 will be next week.

Bugger, my 14 Pro won’t get the AI stuff. Both a bonus and non bonus I guess.

I wouldn't lose any sleep. I'm actively rooting to be able to keep it all turned off for what it's worth.

It's toggle-able it seems @eldergeek , although it still downloaded a load of support packages. Currently researching how to remove.


EDIT: Apparently it ages itself out after a week of Apple Intelligence being toggled "off".

Seems to be - I have my phone set to English (UK) and previously it said it wasn't available. I now have a toggle for it.

Just updated mine to 18.2 via beta branch and then turned toggle off after it finished.

Edit. Now down to 98% battery health, huh.

Been using it since it was updated in the beta channel. Really don’t like it at all. Keep having to tap between four different headings to read all my email. Suspect I need to fine tune it so it works for me but if an email comes in, no matter where it’s from or what it’s for, I just want to tap on it and read it

Installed on my M1 iPad Air earlier. After about 4 hours it still shows Apple intelligence as downloading

I was relieved to find that my most desired feature for 18.2 - the option to turn intelligence off is indeed available.

Tried it first thing this morning and there was an error message at the top of the screen that was covered by the Dynamic Island. Tried a few more times then uninstalled it. Apple are just a permanent Beta software house now aren’t they.

Force quit the app and reload it or turn apple intelligence off and on to fix that. It’s got to download the model in the background for it to work and that seems buggy.
