I made a wallpaper thread in the Software section. I urge all you happy campers to go to InterfaceLift via Safari - they have a 3rd gen iPad option. Pick a nice shot and make it your wallpaper, it looks ridiculously good.
 
I've got both the iPad2 and the new one....best way to do a comparison is to load something that's full hd...a 1920x1080 image will do...on both iPads

You won't really see a difference with existing apps as they are all low def, sky news app, garage band, solar walk, etc....

Take a pic of the same scene with the iPad2 and then with the new iPad, preferably indoors...

Now you will see a difference that is really noticeable.
Full hd image really pops out, Rez is significantly better but it's the colours and contrast where it really shines.
The camera shot in the iPad2 is grainy, has less definition, and shows lots and lots of noise in the dark bits.
In comparison the same shot on the 3 is better defined, but shows lots more detail in the dark spots that's the 2 just misses altogether, and handles the graduations between light and dark areas so much smoother.

For me it's a worthy upgrade as it was display and camera that I bought the new one for, not the speed.
 
So angry my dads still waiting for delivery and he had a half day at work today - he just rang the courier and even though they are scheduled for today they might not complete their van load. Surely they must deliver it today regardless If they have 500 to do?

Updating from an ipad1 is well worth it IMO , from an ipad2 without owning one difficult to say but it's a closer call

Its quite easy to tell even by running regular ipad apps, they look like your running a lower res on a pc monitor.
 
can u please guys check screen as mine has 2 dead pixels as i am returning it

just ordered new one hope it will be without dead pixels
 
64GB Wifi+4G jobby here. I had no idea PhotoBooth was on it, so schweeet. The display is outstanding. Being able to read full screen websites is a huge boon. Just syncing my stuff over to it now. My iPad1 looks like a brick alongside it :/

Edit: Is it me or is syncing content to the new ipad stupidly fast?

That's quite a nice feature, I have an addon in FireFox called BarTab which does the same thing and it makes a huge difference if you like having lots of tabs open and need to close the browser/restart the computer.

I think FireFox is actually integrating this feature in an upcoming release.
 
Being a Londoner, I'd like to replace the inky-fingered annoyance if flicking through the Metro and Evening Standard every night with the NewsStand version. Just tried the former. Awesome. Not going to be needing to grab a physical copy in the morning any more, just download it before I leave the house every morning. :D
 
just rang UKMAIL and they said the driver's gonna be on the road till 8pm. I have to wait till then and if he/she still don't show, pick it up 2mrw. Should've just got it from one the local retailers but who knew?
 
all those who do not get a delivery should complain to apple.

if the couriers have not got the capacity to deliver they should not take on the job.
