Just unboxed :) Sorry for terrible iPhone 4S picture quality here. From left to right: iPad 2 Black, 'iPad' White, iPad 2 white, all 16GB and WiFi.

First impressions: it really isn't that noticable in terms of weight and size difference to the iPad 2, but the screen is definitely brighter and sharper when reading small printed text on the browser for example. I'm happy with my iPad 2 for the time being as all I really do is watch Sky Go, play music and browse.

Smart cover works perfectly fine with it.

The camera is definitely an improvement in terms of still image captures, and it zooms out further than the iPad 2 as well when zoom is at minimum.

"sorry for iPhone 4S camera quality", I know the whole specifying iPhone thing annoys a few on here, wonder how they'll react to being model specific too lol

What happens when you try to enable it under settings > general > network?
 
So my iPad from Apple arrived today (need not have bothered picking one up from Currys yesterday).

The Apple one, unlike my Currys one, has no dead pixels or distinct yellow banding down the sides. I'll return the Currys one today.

It does, however, have a distinctly more yellow screen. This panel is going to be warmer, we know that from iFixIt, but I believe the additional yellowing people see is the glue setting. I had this problem with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S and both did go away after 1-2 weeks.
 
Is this some kind of sick joke.

Long apple user, not one of these newbie people.

Waited from 12 midday to 8 yesterday no delivery.

I collect it this morning and have to spend 30minutes proving it's me!!

I get the ipad home and the back is covered in black finger prints permanently stuck to the back.

Where do I stand in this?
 
Well I've had mine for over 24 hours now and have to say I am happy I sold my 2 and bought this. The screen does look better to me, but I will know for sure when a mate of mine gets back from holiday and I can see it next to both other iPads, and I've had more fun with the speech to text than I've had in ages. I love tripping it up. I've said all sorts in many stupid accents.

Great fun. But Apple, we don't all speak in perfectly enunciated English like what that bloke at the Apple conference did the other day like.

Ahh ok, I'm just curious because I tried to help my friend with this yesterday. Personal Hotspot doesn't appear under settings until you attempt to enable it under settings > general > network. I don't think this option can be removed by the operator but it can be disabled. When attempting to enable it under Orange for example you'll be asked to contact the operator but it will work fine with O2.

This is one of the reasons why I won't move from O2 to GiffGaff now that my contract has expired. O2 is the ONLY UK network that supports iOS devices fully!
 
Ordered a 64gb wifi at PCWorld in Chester yesterday morning as there was no stock in the Reading area, drove up from Reading last night and stayed at a friends house overnight. Just been to collect with my reservation email and was told 'sorry we sold it!, we have checked local store and they don't have any left, try again in a few weeks!'
I'm so mad it's unreal! Now driving back home, 400 mile round trip for nothing!
Not happy!

Whoa- take a look at the background of a website via the reader function in safari... On the new iPad you can actually see the paper texture effect whereas on the iPad 2 it just look like a plain white sheet. :eek: lol
 
There are already a few HD apps out which is nice. Picked up a couple today.

Over the moon with it so far.
 
My iPad was delivered at my work around 3pm ish, I was getting worried because I didn't want to do any overtime on a Friday haha.

Anyways, this is my first iPad and to me it's amazing. I love the clarity of the screen. What surprised me most was the overclockers forum which fits and reads perfectly in portraight position, can this also be done on the iPad 2?

Just trying out all the iPad apps now, I love playing board games like carcassonne so it's ideal. Using my iPhone 4s this morning the screen seemed way too small, will take time to adjust!

Also thanks for this thread yesterday,think I'm responsible for refreshing it 3000 times while 'working' :)
 
The weight and thickness difference is definitely noticeable- iPad 2 feels much "nicer" to hold in comparison.

It's always a little warm to the touch...which is a bit disappointing.

It does however make the screen on my iPad 2 look pretty yellow/bad, moreso on colour reproduction than actual sharpness which is a surprise.

The camera is good but redundant with photo stream working so well.

Oh, nothing exciting. Monopoly HD as the whole family plays on long journeys, will be nice to play on a big screen rather than the iPhone.

Modern Combat 3 as it was only 69p

Monopoly looked great, especially when in essence it's just a board game. Yet to try MC3.
