*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

Im just saying that the Screen on the iPad 2 is still perfectly good enough...Even the iPad 1 has a decent screen for viewing pictures and gaming....

As for the new Processor in the iPad 3, Don't even get me started on that. The annoying thing is that Apps of the iPhone and iPad DONT REQUIRE a lot of processing power anyway, its like with these new chips they are total OVERKILL, The Iphone 4 processor makes even the newest apps open up in seconds and runs games perfectly smooth. its just a total overkill..Yes maybe in a year or two when some Apps require a duel core processor to run them then this is needed but right now? no way

Are you serious? Even iPhone 4S is noticeably slow for me when opening an app. I need realtime interaction! Have to wait I guess ...

No, I don't think you even know how to come back to that as I have clearly stated and highlighted the main clear points and thats just the truth to it. I know its hard for some of you to accept when you use your currently iPad 2's and think "Wow, I must have the newest and most up to date version of this" That you just ignore whats right in front of you and buy it.

Just look what I said about the 4S when that came out and the amount of people I told NOT to upgrade as you won't see a difference in performance. 99% REPLIED back saying that they didn't see the point of upgrading as they didn't see a difference, so I was right all along.

When do you justify buying something then? When it's a different shape? What?

The new iPad is an upgrade over the iPad 2 in every possible way. It is 100% absolutely worth upgrading to if you can afford it. If not, it isn't the end of the world.

The iPhone 4S provides very real performance increases over the iPhone 4. It IS better and it IS worth getting if you can justify getting one. That's before you even factor in the better camera/video and so on.

Your logic is so embarrassingly stupid... do you still drive an old banger as a car because it still works and you couldn't justify getting a brand new one? It's that stupid. Get a grip.

It's as simple as that really, but you'll never understand.

I have to admit though the ipad 2 with the price drop makes it more of a question over whether I bother with an upgrade this time around or take advantage of what will be excellent prices in the refurb store.

For example picking up a refurb 16 for £270 or a new 16 for £399 would make me think harder about whether the screen res is worth that extra money to me :)

I wasn't expecting the new price of the 2 to drop that low.

Refurb/clearance for me too. :D

The 3rd gen will drop just as much when the 4th gen turns up next year.
Actually, quad core cortex A15 SoCs are laughing faster than current dual core A9 parts, it won't be far off a 2010 MacBook, wonder if we'll see a big price increase then?

I don't think it's totally fair to mock him, as in some ways he is right though in regards to the processor.

I've had an iPad 2 nearly a year now and it's never struggled to do anything, it's actually very quick.

I agree that you can't really push the boundaries without improving the processing power to do so, but you also have to remember that App Developers are out to make money. There are now three generations of iPads and the last thing you want to do is limit your potential revenue by only having apps that will run on the latest version.

I'd also add that I mainly use my iPad for Web Browsing, Reading, Twitter, YouTube, Music and Videos - None of these are particularly tasking of the processor. The only thing that it seems the extra power is really of any main use for is 3D games like Infinity Blade.

With this screen... a better comparison is 3GS -> 4

I didn't see the point of upgrading from the ipad 1 -> ipad 2... I figured out I was wrong when I got an ipad 2 at a good price when the other half kept stealing my 1 ;)

ipad 2 -> ipad 3 is a bigger jump than 1 -> 2

The screen on the two is not good enough...

No point in replying to him bud. Obvious Troll is Obvious :p Either that or he's incredibly out of the loop :/

It is entirely correct to mock him as he's a clueless troll (hopefully).

If it was just a processor upgrade his point would hold more weight, but it isn't. Not at all.

The original iPad is noticeably slower than the iPad 2.

The iPhone 4 is noticeably slower than the iPhone 4S. These are things I've noticed from using them, day in, day out.

Relatively small speed increases aren't 'huge', but as part of the upgraded package (camera/screen/etc) they are very much worth having.

Indeed. Thankfully people probably just laugh at his posts. :D

haha, seriously? Deep inside we all know is about money. No point arguing. Those who have it get the kit, those who don't try to convince against. Harsh I know, but this is reality. I wish everyone could get everything they wished, but this is not how life works.

Yup... poor troll is skint :(

Indeed, there is no point arguing, my bad. :p

Yeah I'm the same I think these devices are frankly crap for gaming unless it's a tower defence type of game or strategy, board games etc. I've bought and tried loads of driving and shooters and it just doesn't work for me.

Whether the screen is worth the upgrade will be hard to judge until I see one with my own eyes :)

The "it's because you can't afford it" comments are almost as cringe inducing as the trolling. I keep seeing that Harry Enfield character, "I'm considerably richer than you!" ;)

I'd agree, but in some instances it's clearly the case. Especially with the person in question.
