The logic is probably that people will happily shrug their shoulders and fork out an £19 extra in the shop when the Genius tells them they need to pay extra for a brick.

Quote updated to reflect the truth :P

And then, Apple hopes, those people will still believe that a corporate behemoth really does care about the environment rather than shareholders and the bottom line.

As someone once said, if Apple could legally drug you, harvest your kidneys and get away with it, they'd have the scalpel squads out on the streets within a week.

Why have you edited my quoted message?

Anyone else remembers how much the fanboys jumped up and down for curved phone sides and how square edges were crappy lol that's the first thing I thought when the video was playing..
Also, I hope we're not going to have antenna issues again...

Antenna should be fine. It was the iPhone 4 that had problems and they fixed it with the 4S. The 5 and 5S didn't have any such issues either as far as I'm aware and I'd be amazed if Apple would let something like that happen again. Then again you never know :D

Are you saying the removal of the charge brick was a totally altruistic measure? If Tim Cook said the sky was purple you'd be on here defending it.
It benefits Apple and it benefits the environment. It also satisfies Europe regulations to reduce waste. It also satisfies overall reduction in emissions.

I’ve never understood the need for power bricks these days. I’ve never even unwrapped the plugs on my past two iPhones or iPads. It’s not just Apple that aren’t enclosing power bricks anymore as I’m sure I saw that Samsung for one were heading/ had gone down that route.

Satisfies the eu, eu is not Europe.

We have left the eu, but will never leave Europe.

Lack of a charger is another shafting from Apple, next year there will be no cable.

We haven’t quite yet left the EU. And when we do, the regulations still apply until changed in UK law. Not including a charger plug now will hopefully lead to charging cables not being included as well. Meanwhile, planet murdering baby killers (PLAMBAK - you read it here first!) such as yourself can continue to pay extra taxes for extraneous plugs and cables. Everyone’s happy!

I like to think these people secretly know that removing these extraneous items from the box is a good thing, but their blind, bigoted hatred of Apple mean they cannot agree that it is good Apple are doing it.

I can’t think of any other reason for their position.

I'm trying to decide whether I care about the lack of a charger and earphones.

I have never, ever used a pair of earphones that come with a phone. Not even when Nokias used to come with a single earpiece for calls. The only value they've had for me is that when I've sold the phone, I can say that it comes with the original EarPods.

I've still got the boxes for my last four iPhones because the phone has been passed on to family members, traded in or simply just put back in the box when I've got a new one. I've just checked and all those boxes still have the original charger in, still sealed in the fancy wrapping. They've never been used.

I have no idea if that's normal or not but I've got enough chargers dotted around the place that when I get a new phone, I don't feel the need to take the charger out of the box, crawl around under the desk or behind the bed and swap out a perfectly good one.

The same goes for my Apple Watch, I'm still using the charger that came with the original watch, none of the others have been taken out of the box.

This year, prices across the range have dropped and the base memory has doubled. Models with more memory are cheaper than last year.

Quoting myself.

Based on the above, no. I don't care. I'm not getting a couple of items that I'll never use, I'm paying less and getting more memory for my money. The environmental thing doesn't even come into my mind, it's utterly irrelevant.

Someone remind me of the problem again?

People too used to getting headphones and a charger and now that they have decided to do away with them, people are kicking off I guess.

Honestly I’ve never ever used the headphones that come with any phone ive ever had, due to the fact that they are rubbish and I have a set of decent in ear and over ear headphones that I’d rather use.

Same with chargers, I’ve got 4 chargers around my house so having one less is no big deal.

Im just a bit disappointed at the line up this yr, still wondering if it’s worth me going from my xs to a 12 pro.

I had about three pairs of unused Apple earphones and about five or six phone chargers (mix of Apple/Samsung) last I checked. I don't need any of these things. I have three wireless charging pads (spread between my uni and parents), AirPods and wired IEMs. This isn't a loss IMO, although I guess it is a gain for Apple. Although how many pence do you reckon it takes to make these things? They make millions upon millions of them.

Idiot also forgot in the excitement of a new shiny that my wages aren't wages, but a stipend. So there's the monthly out of the window... :(

Yeah I've not got any chargers or earphones out of the box since my iPad 3, got cables and chargers coming out the wazoo. I wish they'd use regular Qi not MagSafe, but part from that not bothered.
