Qi is only 5w, anything more you need proprietary Apple stuff. Same as previous generations, 7.5w is Apple only and 15w is MagSafe only. Bun.I haven’t read anything to say it’s not Qi?

Exactly. The purpose isn’t to save the consumer money, it’s to reduce environmental impact. Too many people are focussed just on the money, specifically their own money, and forget about the bigger picture.I hadnt even noticed the lack of headphones, the power plug doesn't bother me as I have a 4 way plug next to the bed which charges my watch, iPad, Phone and powers my Echo so I get why they've done it..
What it will be though, is a bit more profit for Apple, keep the prices as was but giving you less in the box makes their margins better..
Think of it like the "olive" thing in drinks for whichever airline it was....
I'm trying to decide whether I care about the lack of a charger and earphones.
Someone remind me of the problem again?

Only on Apple approved chargers! You can't just grab a nice cheap china special and get 7.5w, has to be Apple approved which is basically Belkin/Mophie etc. Expensive. Same for 15w, only works with MagSafe - not just any 15w Qi charger.Previous Apple phones support 7.5w qi charging. Whats stopping you from putting the phone on a 15w Qi charger and having to charge at 15w?
I’ve never heard this at all!Only on Apple approved chargers! You can't just grab a nice cheap china special and get 7.5w, has to be Apple approved which is basically Belkin/Mophie etc. Expensive. Same for 15w, only works with MagSafe - not just any 15w Qi charger.

Thats what a lot of companies want you to believe, but by not supplying a set of headphones or a plug, the fact that the prices stay the same suggests that its not about saving the environment, as a cheaper phone would mean more people upgrading surely..
By giving people more, or the same, for less money AND reducing environmental impact, that makes it look like you actual care about it, this, I'm not sure Apple is capable of.
Removing these items from the box only saves a small number of £ and wouldn’t be a significant saving to the customer, certainly not enough to be the difference between upgrading or not. Their removable does massively reduce the amount of stuff being made unnecessarily though. Also someone NOT upgrading is better for the environment then them upgrading.
What’s the estimated cost to apple for the charging brick and headphones? Is £5 reasonable? That would be the saving to the customer.

It benefits apple and the environment.2 things they don't have to make themselves or ship in, save them money, less weight for shipping, saves them money, still charging the customer the same amount.
Do some quick math, you say £5 to the customer, but add all of the backgrounds costs up, so lets not pretend that its all about the environment eh, Apple are a business, a business that has shareholders and CFO's to appease, the whole green thing means people can charge more for less under the guise of it being environmentally good when, in reality that's not their primary driver...

If they also offered the Pro in an alternate SKU, still at £999 but with 64GB and a charger and buds included, like the 11 Pro, everyone would be saying it's a no-brainer to go for the extra capacity in exchange for the charger/buds.
