I've pre-ordered the purple 256g 14 Pro Max direct with Apple and got a date of the 3rd October - 10th October. If I head to an Apple Store on Friday, am I likely to be able to pick up the phone in-store and cancel the pre-order?
Yes, if you are early enough, some models, colours or size but get sold out earlier than others. I remember when the iPad came out and fanfare was huge at launch, I walked in at lunch time in Birmingham store and got one.

They get regular restock in store.

Minor camera improvement, slightly bigger battery.
Imo it’s targeting people on 11’s or older really.
Grabbing a 13 pro would make more sense as a “stretch budget” choice over a 14 standard
The only difference I can see is the refresh rate being 60 v 120, which to be fair could be noticeable... But surely not £220 noticeable... Wow

Oh, and 2GB additional RAM

Cheers, might jump on the train on Friday after the school run and head down to Birmingham and take a punt.

Did you gloss over the bigger camera sensor, macro and zoom?

Or did you mean the 14 not 13.

30% off, nice. I get 20% but that couldn't make it competitive compared to SIM only and getting the phone from Apple.
Same here, 20% off will get swallowed up when the monthly cost goes up by CPI + 3.9% (for EE). I've gone SIM only to cover the eventual increase.

I’m going to stay on my legacy contract with free roaming for now, will see what the Black Friday deals bring.

Ordered a 512GB iPhone 14 Pro in Deep Purple with an Ink leather case.

Should be here on Friday...

First launch day phone since the 6s Plus!

iPhone 14 screen refresh of 60Hz is really poor for that price range.
It is.
I ardently defended its use on the 12, and slightly less so on the 13, but to not offer it at this point in time is bordering on ridiculous.
I accept there are mitigating factors, such as the 60hz on an iPhone still being relatively smooth compared to the competition - although said competition is getting less and less as more devices gravitate to 90/120hz displays.
Secondly, I also appreciate that there has to be differentiators between the standard model and the Pro - in the past (12&13) the ProMotion display was pretty much the only differentiator (cameras aside). But now they have the Bionic Chip, notch/Dynamic Island as well as some camera gubbins.
If they wanted to keep the absolute premium for the Pro I see no reason why they couldn't have used a fixed 90 or 120hz and save the LTPO smarts for the Pro models.

I run caseless, however I'm tempted by the MagSafe wallet thing for when I go out drinking. It means I don't have to carry a wallet so one less thing in my pocket.

Yea, I'm trying to convince myself that the 14 makes sense but I keep landing on the 13 pro as the best bang for buck from an Apple point of view.

My iPhone XS has been great for the past 4 years but decided to treat myself to an iPhone 14 Pro.

I feel like the camera bump difference from the XS is going to bug me.

Anyone else ordered via EE seeing this when you check the order status?

The last couple of times I've pre-ordered with ee, something has gone wrong and I've had to contact them - so I'm a bit paranoid.
