There's an option in WhatsApp to turn off automatically saving images to the camera roll. Settings / Chats / Save to Camera Roll. It won't help here but it's useful going forward.

I thought this transfer was possible natively now without a third party app, see here.

Yeah, I did try this and it transferred to 1% then was stuck on there for hours. Decided to just pay the £15 for the software and to be fair to it, it worked first time without any issues and didn't even take that long, maybe 15-20 minutes.

I used some software years ago to transfer my wife’s massive 28gb db from android to iOS. Cost me a few bob but it worked well.

It’s a shocker that in 2023 this is still an issue. Prefer Telegram by a country mile.

The wife wants a new phone and it'll be iPhone 15, however she's asking what's the difference between that and the 15 Pro as I'm encouraging her to get the Pro but her frugal head is putting up a fight.

Personally, I would say the 120Hz screen would be enough to sway me - what other reasons would you say justifies the extra few hundred bangers?

Frankly, if she doesn’t know/understand/appreciate the difference between the regular and the Pro then the regular is your answer.
For me, yes, the 120hz display is a deal breaker but I know my missus wouldn’t know the difference so it’s a moot point with her.

120hz display, action button, always on display, zoom camera, titanium.

Apple fixed the wireless charging disabling Apple Pay bug and the snow weather widget bug.

This update provides bug fixes for your iPhone including:
  • In rare circumstances, Apple Pay and other NFC features may become unavailable on iPhone 15 models after wireless charging in certain cars
  • Weather Lock Screen widget may not correctly display snow

Man I’m loving the ProMax :)

I loved swapping Android to Apple (iPhone 13) it just made my phone useage much more enjoyable once I got to learn how to switch apps lol. Android watches also don’t even come close. Starting to use my watch now in conjunction with the phone. I feel like the guy from fallout with the computer strapped to my arm!!

My swap from the 13 to the 15pro max as been well worth it for me. Screen is amazing and camera. Battery life has been stella.
Last week been using it an average of 4.6 hours of screen time and the battery hasn’t came close to 50% apart from one day I hit over 9 hours screen time which was 50% on the dot. I miss the use-ability of the smaller phone but the update to the screen size is worth the trade.

I also can’t recommend the ESR normal tempered screen protector enough. 11 quid for 3. It reminds me of the Whitestone dome glass protector I had on one of the pixel phones and it was 4x the price. Full coverage and perfect fit for the Apple silicon case. No dust build up around the edge as this covers the lot.

How many of you went for the Pro over the Pro Max ? Just wondering if I should downgrade to the smaller size, the Pro Max can be a handful at times, nearly launched it at someone the other day when taking out of pocket to bring up to use. How are you finding the battery life ? has it gotten better with recent updates?

Probably no help but I went the other way and I couldn't go back now.

I went with the pro max but this is my first max sized phone. I got it day 1 and still struggle with it occasionally as I forget it's size but I picked up a friends regular 14 the other day and it felt so tiny in comparison. While I'm still not used to the size, I don't think I could go back to a smaller phone now.

On a side note, has anyone else noticed problems with the 80% charge? I charge my phone over night and, the setting is definitely on, I've noticed a couple of times I've woken up to a 100% battery. Really only a minor issue but annoying it doesn't always work as it should.

Honestly I'm not sure I would bother getting the 15 Pro over the 15 for the average user. She's been using a 60 Hz display for a while I imagine, so you're not getting anything compelling for the extra 200 squid IMO.

Been using my 15 Pro Max for a few days now. I only upgraded from the 14 PM due to wanting USB C and higher storage.

However I've actually found it to be quite a nice step up in terms of usability and ergonomics - it's lighter, thinner and the sides are slightly curved, which makes for a superior one handed experience (oioi)

That being said, finding the battery life to be distinctly worse than the 14 PM, even though my battery health on that was at 95% or so. Just seems to die much more quickly when doing anything, and tends to get quite warm even if just web browsing.

Overall though, very nice and probably the nicest iPhone to use since the 11 Pro (Max).

15 Pro battery life wasn't great, especially coming from the 14 PM which has some of the best in the business.

14 PM would do 2 days light usage and a full day heavy.

15 P would do about 1.5 days light usage and so probably not quite a full day of hammering it, especially after a year or two.

But it was a lot smaller, and nicer to hold in one hand. You've got to enjoy using the phone, and if you don't, it's worth downsizing IMO.

Finally my 15 pro max has arrived. Should be a noticeable step up from the 12 pm it was replacing. Didn’t think the weight was that much of a big deal but this thing is so light in the hand!

It s working as it should...

About 80% Limit with iPhone 15 models

With iPhone 15 models, you can choose between Optimised Battery Charging, 80% Limit and None.
When you choose 80% Limit, your iPhone will charge up to about 80 percent and then stop charging. If the battery charge level gets down to 75 percent, charging will resume until your battery charge level reaches about 80 percent again.
With 80% Limit enabled, your iPhone will occasionally charge to 100 percent to maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates.
