It looks like all the color coated titanium models suffer from color shift due to fingerprints/sweat. The blue is the worst affected, as you use it, the blue color where you frequently touch the phone, such as the buttons, it starts changing from dark blue to light blue and looks ugly. Can it can be fixed by deep cleaning or polishing the phone and then it goes back to the original color.

Only the natural titanium is not affected by this
I've done the pre pre-order, do you know if the colour can be changed at 1pm for the real pre order?

Ahh ok, I thought they might have been talking about this, saw it on Reddit too, was also on the natural titanium phone as well, just less visible. I assume it was just because the phones there were fingered (oooo matron) by hundreds of journos with sweaty hands etc and was something I was concerned about

Here’s a link to a pic of the natural titanium one showing it

Yea looks like dirt/oil on the surface and naturally people can't touch the small areas around the buttons so they stay clean.

All those YouTuber cheese Doritos fingers are not normal.

I'm contemplating a shift back to iOS after 12 year hiatus, I had the original iPhone, the 3g and 4s but then went to Android for useability but slowly over the years each of the issues has been resolved by evolving tech.

- Non swipeable keyboard (they've had this a good few years now)
- Could only put music on with iTunes (now I just stream everything)
- Small storage amounts and non-removeable storage (cloud + phones are no longer 16gb storage for a long time)

Most of the apps I use are basic but I do want to have the best Camera as I am coming from a Pixel so leaning towards the Pro Max. I use a phone more than anything else so the cost is kind of irrelevant.

Any other long-term android users that have made the switch recently? @LiE you flirt between both worlds, no?

Things you will probably miss.

- Universal back button
- Notifications being presented logically and easy to triage.
- The speed of Android animations and scrolling.
- Notification Icons / a cleaner AOD implementation
- Putting icons/widgets anywhere you want
- The half swipe up to screenshot/select text/split screen.
- Individual volume controls.
- A clipboard

Things you'll appreciate in Apple land.

- Ecosystem, Apple stuff works really well together
- Beasty A-series chips
- Excellent first party support/accessory options
- Consistent App UI implementations, more polish in some apps.
- FaceID
- A chip that doesn't get hot and a solid modem.
- a Phone that doesn't tank in value.

Solid pro's and cons, but some of those con's are huge when it comes to useability. The notifications probably the one that would peeve the most as I get so many of those. I'll probably wait for some reviews to come through before deciding as it's definitely not a necessary move. I also don't think they will be in short supply any time soon!

Swipe keyboard isn’t as good as gboard IMO, though may change with iOS 17

Camera on Pixel still much better than iPhone. Just prefer the colours and dynamic range.

Unless you’re trying to switch away from android, I wouldn’t consider moving to iOS.

I know this was asked further back in the thread but I don’t recall seeing a response - are the handsets in Apple stores today to go and get a hands on? I’ve no intention in buying one but I’m mooching about Birmingham waiting for my flight out this evening - so might take a trip to the store just for kicks.

I'm waiting for the Pixel 8 then I'll dive into the comparisons and reviews.

They aren't in-store until 22nd.

The thing is, I've had five years of use out of my XS. If I get the same out of a 15 Pro Max, it works out about £20 per month.

Considering how much I use my phone, it's not bad value.

At least, that's how I'm justifying the ridiculous price tag for a phone. :D
I’m running an XS too, upgraded to ios17 RC last night - it absolutely flies surprisingly! I bought this off the Ocuk MM back in 2019.

I am tinkering with the idea of a 14 or 15 Pro. Apple will give £110 for an Xs trade in so there’s that.

Surprised you put animations as a pro for Android, every comparison I’ve seen has Apple having much better animations, especially the quality of them.

It's the speed of the animations, it makes things feel faster. iOS is like watching a theatre performance every time an animation happens; it's nice to watch but takes a while
