Apple's head of photography sat down with a French media outlet to discuss the camera on the 15 Pro Max. He was asked why the phone went with 5x optical lens over 10x. He said that while at 5x the stability of the camera was acceptable, if they went with a 10x optical lens, users would have to take photos with a tripod as the camera is too unstable in human hands. That doesn't mean 10x won't come in future but just that 5x is the sweet spot with the rest of the phone's design.

comparing the camera to the S23 Ultra, it still holds up very well even at 25x at night so well done.

In daytime the Samsung has a definite advantage at 25x digital zoom :

But at night time or low light, the 15 pro max actually beats the Samsung at 25x:

Does anyone know who Apple UK use for delivery on iPhones. I’ve got mine coming tomorrow and I’m nervous it’ll be DHL.

Apple use a variety of courier companies as I don’t think that a single courier has the capacity to deliver everything on release day. DHL is one of their normal couriers though.

Last year DPD got absolutely hammered with iPhone deliveries. The majority of couriers nowadays are pretty reliable, unlike the yodel days. Hoping we will get our shipped tracking notifications this morning.

So what’s the reviews like for the camera? This thread seems to be going against it last time I checked but watched two review videos and they seemed to love it?

The cameras seem like a nice incremental improvement over last year. The main camera being 24mp brings more detail and fixes (supposedly) the over processed over sharpened images from the 14 Pro main sensor. HDR is improved a bit to handle brighter areas better. Next generation portrait mode is a very nice addition.

Hmmm... Somehow I don't believe you :p No way EE gave you 60% off a contract lol. They've never allowed discounts to be combo stacked AFAIK...

I upgraded last Friday for the 15PM and have the 30% F&F discount... Haven't ever been allowed to add any further discounts on top of the 30% F&F.
I'll reply once my first bill is produced :D

I’ve never been able to stack any deals with EE, they’ve only ever allowed one code to be used.
Not for me, here's a couple of codes currently stacked on my main line:

I'm not a student and have pointed this out before, but they said it didn't matter.

UPS normally deliver my Apple gear, which is great as I'm normally at the start of their route, so get it nice and early. A few times it's been DHL though, which isn't so great as I always seem to be at the end of their route :(

No shipping details yet, still says Preparing.

I'm thinking of taking Apple Care on this phone, but not sure which one. It's the first time buying at the higher end of the range. I already have phone insurance via my bank account, but the cost is kind of negligible if it's better to do it via Apple Care.

Defintely go for the theft and loss option for full peace of mind.

I find most bank insurance have long drawn out claims process, and very few offer things like advance replacements if you smash your phone.

They normally involve sending off for repair which can be a massive inconvenience, and they tend to use these third party places for any repairs.

I’m perhaps more anal than most but I’d only want Apple touching my Apple devices.

Apple will repair the phone and do advanced replacement (a new thing I think) without loss/theft.

I personally haven't ever had a phone stolen.
