Phone arrived. Asked the guy if he had the other phone, he checked his phone ran back to the van and handed over the other one. Hopefully saved him at a little time later in the day!

I was a bit unsure about getting an eSIM but switched over about six months ago after hearing all of the stories about SIM jacking. It’s so much less faff when switching phones though. No mucking about with the phone - iOS’s transfer tool handles everything.
 
Mine arrived about midday, just finished setting it up now between jobs.

The always on display - I'm coming from a 12PM that didn't have it. Whats the general consensus? OK to leave it on or too much of a battery drain?
 
DPD decided to ignore my request to leave in specified location, and text said they can’t come back today so will try tomorrow.

I set the “deliver to specified place” again and then call support. Because I’ve set it up for tomorrow they apparently can’t call the driver back…even though it’s his fault for not delivering it. Idiots.

I turned it off, no idea how much it drains the battery but I by default presume that it sitting on would drain quite a bit.
 
I've turned it off. Doesn't really seem necessary. Same as the watch, it works comes on when I look at it, it doesn't need to when I don't.
 
my 15 plus arrived around 10 am and i've just finished setting it up. It seems huge compared to my 2020 se. I have to say face recognition is very impressive.

Not specifically a phone issue but for some reason in chrome everything synced up except my passwords. They’re not there and turning on/off sync is doing nothing. Can still get them if I go to the google settings page rather than the built in settings. Strange

That aside. Going from the 12p to the 15pm, size it’s not “that” much bigger and barely notice any weight difference.

The smoother edges are much better for the nude experience.

Brightness and smoothness of the display feels like quite an improvement.

The island works better than I thought it would which is nice.

Not sure about the always in display. Feels like I’m more likely to pocket dial someone/thing.

Edit: oh and I went for the black. Finger prints don’t show up too bad at all really but I could see how lighter colours might highlight it more.

Sky finally came clean and admitted that the Pro Max was never going to appear today and that it was a "technical error" that meant I was told it would be delivered on the 22nd. Glad i went to Three and got one today otherwise i'd be waiting until the end of October, which for a device ordered at 13:45 on day of pre-order release is pretty poor. They have made a bit of a mess of communications on this.
 
Took a look at the phones earlier on the way home-titanium is nice but nothing to tempt me from the 13 Pro.

The Pixel Fold on the other hand…
