Are you getting an iPhone 15?

Most pointless feature for me. My phone is either in my pocket, on my desk/phone holder in car or charging.

So, if I get a notification the screen will alert me to it or it’ll vibrate/ring whatever. Or alert on watch.

It just sitting there in the desk with the screen lit very dull is just wasting battery for me. If I need to see the time, I can either look at my watch or tap the screen. If I’m actually needing to look at it I’d pick it up and I’ll light up if you will.

I just can’t see a situation where it’s a benefit to have a dull screen on full time? You’re either going to look at the thing or not. Or read the notification. It’s going to distract you either way.
This is why I turn off the option to "show wallpaper", this way, it's a black screen with the time and widgets showing only. It was annoying with the dimmed wallpaper showing.

I turned always on display off because it just doesn't do anything for me. I don't need or want my phone catching my attention unless I'm waiting for an important call or whatever and in that scenario I'll have my watch on which will do all the alerting I need anyway.

I completely agree with this. Haven't ever had a use for it. The only thing ever truly urgent is a phone call, otherwise whatever is on my phone can wait.

Cheers for that, i will give it a try. If i turn off the "Show Wallpaper" and the "Notifications" will it still show the time but wake when it gets a notification?

I am all for this USB C thing but the connector ain’t anywhere near as satisfying as the old Lightning with its reassuring click and rock solid connection.

Switch off "show wallpaper" but leave notifications on. Notifications still will pop up at the bottom along with showing the time/widgets.

Has anyone got a recommendation for good matte screen protector for a 15 pro max?

I've tried for a week to go without but I'm just constantly reminded why I don't like a glossy screen. But Apple don't sell matte protectors anymore which is annoying as I never minded paying the few extra £ to have them fit it knowing it would be perfectly straight and if they messed up they just get another one.

Guys bit of advice please

Im using an Iphone XR. Been a good phone all these years. Battery life now down to 79%

So was going to change to the 15. The big question is do I get the Iphone 15 or Iphone 15 pro.

My usage is normal facebook, reddit etc. Some pokemon go and youtube. So do I go for the Pro with the better CPU or save £200 and go with the normal model? What would you do?

Thanks

Normal model tbh. The Pro has better cameras but doesn't sound like you'd benefit from that.

I personally think the Pro is overkill for 99% of people. The CPU differences are minor and in the real world you won't notice any difference - save for this Ray Tracing marketing on certain titles.
Again, from my point of view, the only reason to get the Pro is for the 120hz display - I'm afraid I'm very much in the camp that can't go back having enjoyed it for a number of years now. For anyone fortunate enough to still be on 60hz displays (or don't appreciate the higher refresh) then go for the 15.
IF the 15 Plus had 120hz I'd have ditched my 13 Pro Max for it, of course (as expected) it doesn't so I'll hold on for another year...

Cheers, another annoying question, what's a recommended case for the 15 Pro? Got my eye on Bellroy. Aware of Mous, D-brand, etc. but interested in any personal recommendations.
