6S+ here, still a very capable phone so not really tempted to upgrade just yet

but the hype may get the better of me :p

New phone can't come soon enough. First one I've been genuinely excited about, price tag is excessive but it's an expense I'm more than happy to pay due to how much I use it and how much I depend on it (sadly)

It is an insane amount of money but the amount you use smartphones nowadays it's worth it imo. Years ago I wouldn't have flinched spending money upgrading my pc every 2/3 years and this is just the same, hours and hours of use everyday and is essential to pretty much everything we do day to day.

My one annoyance is the storage tiers, they purposefully make the entry level just too small and the next one too big. I had a 64gb 6+ when I wanted 32, now have a 128 7+ when I want 64!

I've heard from a company that gets the dimensions and pricing iPhone 8 64GB starts at £949 256GB £1049 512GB £1149...

Like people are saying the amount of time you actually spend on you're phone it's kinda worth it and if you think iPhone's actually hold there resale value quite well, so you can sell it before the next version is out..

£1049.... I'm going to have to seriously think about that. Yes, I use my phone a damn lot but that is still silly money. How long until a phone costs more than £1500

How much time do people spend on their phone to justify the price? You can get a phone that does pretty much the exact same thing for a fraction of the cost.

My phone is like an extra limb for me :p I use it enough that I will spend that much for a premium version of it.

The way I see it, we're moving to a 2-3 year cycle now (I upgraded my iPhone every year until 2 years ago; I've had my 6S for just under 2 years), so an increase in price is spread over 2-3x the amount of time you use the phone for.

If thats the price I might stay a gen behind, tbh I'm considering shifting to the SE as I much prefer that form factor

Best form factor ever.

Actually, that's a lie. I hope they announce the SE2 in an iPod Touch 6th gen form factor. Now that's a thing of beauty.

I always upgraded to the latest iphone at the end of the two year contract but after getting the iphone 6 on release day that was it for me. Prices were getting a bit too silly and some of the contracts that were offered were shocking. I would rather pay 400 up front and have cheaper monthly bill but that is so hard to find. I basically decided to wait until my iphone 6 started to feel slow... Which it is now its so so slow its shocking. So i think i may well be paying stupid money for the Iphone 8 but if it lasts me 3 years for the things i need it to do then i can just about accept that... It is getting stupid now.. Both samsung and apple are charging more and more for the top end models but for no major changes... well for what i use my phone for anyways.

1050 for the mid range is insane, but I'll probably try to justify it so that I can get a 7+ or bigger screen in a form factor close to the normal 7.

The current plus is just way too big for me, yet I spend so much time on my phone I would love the extra real estate.

The current mid range 7 retails for £700, I can sell for maybe £400?

Bugger...that's still a lot to make up the difference. Another £650 - £700ish

They need to start being things you can plug into a TV/connect to a TV and basically be portable computers. That's surely the direction of travel given how powerful they already are.

Indeed, when they cost more than most people spend on a laptop using technologies that already exist, even if it mean making them slightly thicker would be a great bonus. Using miracast/Wi-Di or whatever technology they call it now, along with the Bluetooth keyboard, and mouse capabilities. They could then also have more functional games and apps for when it is in this mode, also allowing it to be used a presentation device in a conference room would also be great, using the ability to connect to a wireless projector.

Anyhow, it will never happen.. until someone else does it first, make it a success, then they will copy it, and make it better/more expensive.

Tempted to grab one on the apple upgrade program and 'complete' my apple eco system but still not sure. It's a lot of money.
