*** The official late 2020 Mac mini thread (it has the M1 chip and everything!) ***

I'll be surprised but it's possible. When I ordered my Apple Watch on pre-order day, I was given a delivery date a week later than launch day and I did get a tracking number quite early.

I think for my new iPad Air 4 I got a tracking number at about 9 or 10pm the night before delivery (also launch day). Some people got them after midnight.

That's for a launch day delivery though - Not when the product was ordered at pre-launch and then scheduled for delivery a week later. A BTO device has to be assembled specially and that's why it takes longer and can't be delivered on the actual launch day. Although I do think it's a little bonkers that there aren't at lease some BTO versions already built and ready to be shipped for launch day.

My BTO Mac mini shipped from China over the weekend, arrived in Alaska this morning and departed again this afternoon. UPS says it's going to arrive tomorrow but maybe that'll change...

I live in Amsterdam and just got my delivery notice, DHL say it will be with me on the 24th from Eindhoven which is only a couple of hours away!!

It won't actually be in Eindhoven yet - The tracking updates when the waybill is created, this is exactly what happened with the watches. The tracking said they were in Eindhoven when they weren't even on the way.

I have an i7 Mini with a full stack of RAM in it. I'll likely be keeping it now and probably get a 2nd gen MacBook Air. If there's any benchmarks anyone wants me to run to directly compare to the M1 then let me know.
