***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Right whats the story here?

I have a 16gb that is pending on google wallet and the play store tells me estimated dispatch on the 15th. I've read through pretty much the entire thread but can't seem to get a concrete answer the way it seems to me is that I have of the first batch phones however I'll get it when I get it?

Seems like a bit of a farce from Google here!

i am waiting till the 16gb comes available again. I am one of those idiots who sold my 8gb on the auction as i thought i may as well make a quick bit of money being that broke student! nice 380 towards some nights out!!!

guess ill stick to my s3 for a few more weeks :'(

I don't understand why all you folks who have GS3s and One Xs are buying this. I mean, it's a great phone, but it's more or less equal to other flagship phones in all things except price, where it beats them hands-down. I mean if you could sell your GS3 for a profit and use part of it to get this then ok, I get it, although it's a huge hassle for not much profit. But if you just want to have a great phone, well you already have one! And if it's the pure Google experience that attracts you, just install an unofficial ROM that does this on your phone.

Dont think you will get much sympathy here dude.

I am finding my s3 quite laggy a lot of the time, have done a wipe but it is still not always smooth especially when i am launching games. GTA3 also lags now and then.....and the phone is ugly.

May aswell trade it for a newer faster phone thats better looking surely.

I logged on at 8am just before leaving for work and it wasn't available to order. Logged on at 9am when I got to work, site wouldn't work and then it was sold out!

The guy who posted the cartman video has it bang on ;)

The reason I am doing it is because I can sell my gs3 for the same price to cover the cost of the nexus 4.. So why not take a better specced more future proofed phone made by google itself meaning instant updates ? Also my phone is damaged and scratched from it falled out my pocket so want a nice new shiny phone! and im a tech lover :D

So.. I just got an email saying my phone has shipped, but I look on "My account and settings" and it's got one phone as shipped, one as pending to be shipped tomorrow and one as cancelled. I only ordered the 2, and cancelled one of them. Google Wallet shows that I ordered 2, and cancelled one of them straight away.

Google really do have no idea when it comes to this selling physical products thing, they've been awful so far.

Yup after seeing the majority of reviews and user opinions so far I most definitely wouldn't be moving from the current flagship devices (one S, X, XL, X+ and GS 3 and note II), 3 important areas just aren't great compared to them, the camera, audio and battery life (well IMO anyway). The main advantages of the N4 over the others is;

- nexus device so good support and get updates fast
- very cheap
- best hardware (although not like there will be a huge difference in real world usage with JB running on the phones)
- for some the design/build

Still can't believe the battery life, which is being reported, I seriously hope google get it sorted out with a software update, it just makes no sense how it can suck so badly with the most power efficient chipset, 2100mAh next gen battery and a power efficient screen (although still haven't seen any useful posts done to the "required detail" that I expect! :p)

I'm not entirely sure why the battery life matters, if a phone can't last 2 days everything between 24 to 48 hours is irrelevant in my opinion. Will the Nexus 4 last a day of decent usage? yes.

Anandtech's review was nowhere near as damning on the audio as you seem to imply, the phone has the same chip for in-ear audio as the S3 and the external speaker ranked 2nd in volume only beaten by the Nexus S surprisingly.

The only legitimate negatives with the phone in my eyes are storage space and camera (Which is ranked only slightly behind the SIII so it still takes a perfectly fine photo for 90% of people) if neither are deal breakers then the phone is legitimately awesome IMO.

You see, this is the issue. Everyone has very different phone usage, and so very different battery experiences.

I've never owned a phone that would last over 24 hours, every day, without fail. Never. The S3 does, from time to time, but if I have a heavier day, it may only last 16 hours. There is a very real chance the N4 might only last me 13 hours on some of these days and all of a sudden that's quite a problem.
