anyone with an N4 mind trying listening to mp3/podcast via decent earphones and if poss compare vs iphone 4 pls ?

I am also interested in audio quality (not loudspeaker quality)

I have some Phiaton MS400's which i currently use with an iPhone 4. Would like to know how good headphones sound on the Nexus 4

Erm, wtf, I've clearly missed this boat.

Been swooning over a Note II and have only just heard about this phone. Want this soo bad but all sold out....... LIES

Probably asked before, but will google likely be getting these back in stock after this initial rush?

Yes, but I'd go with the Note II

TBH, I think there should be a separate thread for all this shipping/delivery stuff and one for actual info/user thoughts on the N4 as the last like 95% of the posts in the last 30 or so pages have been about shipping/delivery, google ****ing up :p and probably will be like this for the next 1-2 weeks :p

For the ones who have got their N4 devices, some photos/1080P videos would be great :)

And initial impressions of battery life too and after a few charges some detailed info. like the following would be much appreciated! :)

Much the same usage as before, browsing, phone calls and texts and some whatsapp, youtube, installing/uninstalling apps, messing around with apps, a lot of camera usage for photos, slow motion recording and 1080P recording, weather syncing every 2 hours and sense weather every 6 hours, gmail in the background, mostly wifi the entire time and some G/H connection for about 1 hour or so, airdroid for about 15 minutes and this is what really killed the battery life near the end, transferring over 214MB of photos/videos via estrongs manager with wifi max performance enabled and earlier on I transferred about another 50-100MB of files but with max wifi performance disabled and of course manual control of brightness ranging from 0-30-50-70-100.

If I hadn't enabled wifi max performance I would have easily hit the 5 hours on screen time mark:

Also I had used ICS + browser a lot more but I uninstalled it near the end (hence why it isn't showing in the battery usage chart) and am now using quick ics browser instead

Right so some first impressions.

It's been mentioned lots in the reviews but the build quality feels very very good, the phone feels lovely in the hand and the soft touch plastic gives the phone the much needed grip it needs with having the glass front and back. The pattern on the back is actually much harder to notice then what I thought it would be, obviously it's personal preference however I would have liked the effect to reveal itself a little more then it does, under normal lighting it just looks like a plain black back.

I have had a blast with the audio with the loudspeaker and in-ear headphones and firstly the volume of both is fine. I'm no expert on quality of the sound however the in-ear sound was noticeably better then my SII, I'm very happy with the in-ear audio. I was expecting bad things for the loud speaker however to my surprise it seems to be pretty damn good, I recorded a quick video for Nexus18 to have a listen too as it appears this is very important to him, the volume in the video is on max.

The camera seems good enough without being exceptional, check below for a rather unfair comparison in lowish light conditions between my Sony Nex5 and the Nexus4, obviously the phone comes out some way behind but that is to be expected.

Overall I am extremely impressed with the phone thus far, I have had a quick play on Riptide HD without any visible slowdowns, the phone just feels incredibly fast doing anything.

after being totally blown away by my Nexus 7 tablet which I bought last week, I am VERY tempted to buy a Nexus 4

Currently have an iPhone 5, am I silly to even think about selling it for a Nexus 4?

I just love what you can do with Jelly Bean 4.2. Having the ability to sync my Music up to Google Play and then stream with all my Google devices is really cool, plus other stuff like Google Now and MediaHouse Pro :-) I am really becoming a Google fan at the minute

Yeah, it's great to see the speed at which Google's services improve. Android is a lot more innovative than iOS now and a lot more useful too. Sell the iPhone, buy a Nexus 4 and get a Nexus 7 with the remainder :D :)

Could you give me a quick few reasons why or a link to the best comparisons, you've obviously doen your research?

I can get a Note II for under £400 as a grey import, which is tempting!

If size and money isn't an issue, I would also get the note II.

Pro's of N4 over note II:

- much better hardware i.e. CPU/GPU
- better support, will get updates faster
- price
- build and perceived quality

Pro's of note II over N4:

- screen size, obviously a big screen is better for pretty much everything
- audio quality and possibly loudness (need to wait for gsmarena's review of the n4 first though)
- camera especially the 1080P recording
- battery life, the note II has amazing battery life, no need to worry about getting through the day as with this you could easily get 2 days or more
- SD slot
- removable battery
- SPEN
- LTE support

The type of screen will come down to what you prefer, overall the nexus 4 screen would be better, but a lot of people including myself prefer SAMOLED for the blacks, pretty much unlimited contrast ratio, vibrant colours and due to all of that videos and games look stunning.

Performance in real world usage will be more or less the same with JB running on both phones, although the N4 will probably feel slightly faster and more snappy due to the S4 goodness  :p

Design/looks is subjective.

NLED is good on both the phones, although the note II is probably easier to see.

Software is personal preference, stock android VS touchwiz.

I'm disappointed that you didn't use the 2 oranges and the banana to maximum comedic effect.
