Here's someone who gave Google a call (xda) :

I called after getting the email and played dumb.

He said that TNT have all the orders but are really backlogged and will be sending shipping notifications as soon as its ready, hopefully within 24 hours.

i then gave the wording of the email i just received. he was silent for a second and then said, ok, i knew that was the case but DID NOT know that email was going out tonight, errrrrr, do you want to cancel?

i hung up

If you drum up hype for promotional gain - you have to accept you'll be dealing with hyped up consumers when you drop the ball.
They've had the good press, they should have the bad press too. That's all!

If I get that email I will cancel. No doubt there will be a 32GB one for the same price by christmas anyway.

No chance, they'll still be catching up with orders into December at this rate. A 32GB model wouldn't happen until later into next year.

i got my shipping confirmation for delivery tomorrow from Google at about 6pm. Its weird why I'd get a shipping email and lots of you get sorry for the three week delay emails. I'd have thought that anyone who didn't get it today would be stuck waiting.

Apparently the email doesn't even say sorry. Just that it will be around three weeks.
