***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Err it looks like a black rubberised mat with a blue LED at one end, no different to what you'd expect after seeing a photo of it online. WYSIWYG ;)

Yep mine stopped working. I think it was due to me installing lite flow and losing root access. Either way I factory reset and it was working again

I performed a factory reset and the notification LED still wasn't working, installed Lightflow and all of a sudden it started working! How strange is that?

I love the look of the orb Nexus charger so will be holding out for that and if it's under £50 I think it'll be an instant purchase :D

How are you finding the nexus 4 stoosh? Liking the screen? Is battery life better or worse than the GS 3 for you?

Hey Nexus, I posted some very short thoughts on the Nexus 4 in comparison to the S3 over in the S3 thread, here's a copy and paste job!

On another note I've bought the N4 late last week and have been using it, although it's a very good phone something's missing from it to the point that the user experience almost feels "soulless"

I can't put my finger on it but I feel that the S3 brings an all round user experience, little things like Smart Stay and other implementations that Samsung have placed in Touchwiz are just the icing on the cake.

The N4 is better built and looks classy but ergonomically the S3 is better to hold.

Sure the N4 will get all the updates first but Samsung hasn't been slouching on the update front and the latest 4.1.2 premium suite update brings a host of features to the S3 that give an enhanced experience.

Don't get me wrong the N4 is a great phone but I feel that the S3 is just a little bit better.

The battery life is the Achilles heel for the N4, it's positively poor compared to the S3, I can easily get around 19-20 hours with moderate to heavy use from the S3 and around 12-14 hours same sort of usage with the N4.

I don't know what it could be but maybe it's poor optimisation on the software that the N4 is running.

Screen wise I've always prefered the SAMOLED look compared to LCD, and that still stands, however the LCD screen is still very good and extremely detailed. It's just a matter of preference but I do prefer the S3 screen because the colours "pop" to life, while on the N4 they're understated but more accurate.

Ah, thanks for that! Don't know how I missed that :p :o

Yeah 4.2 is poorly coded/optimised for battery life (msm_hsic_host kernel wakelock is the main culprit and power manager service as well as surface flinger are using more battery life than required), in theory it should be getting much better than any other phone except for the likes of the note II etc. I still expect google to fix/improve it with the next update or two.....

Did you try this:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sh...t=msm_hsic_host+username_Nexus18#post23227147

Should help with the battery drain.

People with different kernels etc. are getting up and above 5 hours on screen time with normal usage so if you don't mind the rooting/flashing etc. it might be worth having a look :)

Shame that google couldn't get it right first time.

Also, you can get smart stay on any android phone with a front camera now :p

If only camera's could detect your face in pitch black conditions it would be great! :p

Touchwiz has definitely brought some great stuff to the table like multi-view etc. HTC and google etc. should take note!

Likewise with regards to the screen.

Thanks for point me in the right direction re the battery issue Nexus, there's a 34 page thread on the msm_hsic host wakelock XDA, will read that to get a complete picture.

I won't be rooting the N4 just yet and want to keep it as much stock as possible and will wait for Google to release updates to fix the problems.

I remember the Galaxy Nexus experiencing certain issues when it was first released and Google had to release patches and fixes prior to the phone working as it should.

That's the problem with all Nexus phones as us consumers are beta testers for any new hardware releases but credit goes to Google as they eventually fix things.

I did try the smart stay app on the N4 but it doesn't work as well as the one on the S3 and it is a little buggy.

I've gone back to the S3 because I find that it brings a more complete user experience, however I won't ditch the N4 as I'm sure that when Google fix the issues that it will come into its own, but for now the S3 is the phone for me as it more than meets my needs on a daily basis.

Opinions are funny things. I've just sold my S3,mostly for all the reasons you list as positives.

Samsung seem to be only able to make bluetooth devices that are only compatible with other Samsung bluetooth devices so it had to go.

Touchwiz is an abomination, sorry but it is.

That's so true! Us human beings are strange individuals!

Both phones are great and with owning either you can't really go wrong! :)

It was the bluetooth issues which finished it for me. My S2 and S3 just didn't seem to want to stay connected to anything for more than 20 seconds, and would have killed me eventually in the car as I was always messing about with them.

Now that is a very good reason to switch to N4

It drove me nuts... I must have tried connecting them to half a dozen different devices and they all exhibited similar issues with audio.... They would just go garbled and randomly disconnect.

Never had any issues with HTC, and my Nexus....

Glad you mentioned this, I still really havent used the N4 as too busy with distractions, but the main use of my phone is music/podcasts over BT in my car so good that the N4 supports this properly as I would have sent it back otherwise. Shocked the Samsung phones dont...

Another good thing is my Shure headphone controls work with the N4, all except volume but I can cope with that as its got hardware volume buttons anyway...

ps3ud0

Anyone been having any kinda of WiFi issues with there phone. For some reason, I can't connect to the WiFi at home but all my other devices can just fine (Laptops, Other android Phones, iPad, PS3). But my phone connects to other wifi signals like the one at work and so on. I have tried being 1meter away, it seems to connect but no data is transferred at all. This has been happening since I first got the phone.

Torn between this and the Lumia 920. This is edging it though purely on price point.

When I saw the price for the N4 I was basically forced to get it over anything else. Not matter how good the 920/iPhone 5 or whatever else I would want it couldn't justify the price difference, moreover that I actual liked Android more then other OS.
