***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

I'm on the stock kernel (not rooted either), will I have to wipe everything if changed over to franco's ?.

You shouldn't have to wipe if you change a kernel, only if you change a rom. But you do need to be rooted to change kernel. Still, make sure you backup your stock rom before flashing your kernel.

You don't need to root but you need to unlock the boot loader.

The problem is all your data will be wiped when you unlock. Which is one of the reasons why its the first thing I do when I get a new Android phone.

Changing kernels can't make any difference to signal, this is changed via a radio/modem.bin update. Kernel has nothing to do with it.

I appear to be unable to send sms messages since midnight. Phone, ROM or carrier (giffgaff) problem? Anyone suffering the same?

Edit: It's giffgaff :(

anyone else having an issue with the phone not picking up a 3G connection when moving away from a wifi one?
the signal indicator will go grey and just stay like that.

this is usually the case if the phone was on wifi for approx. 10hrs and was in a deep sleep.

anyone?
