***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

I on the other hand think that call quality is amazing.

Had a call from someone with an iPhone 5 and it sounded like they were sitting next to me.

Damn, Google are shipping quickly!!

Ordered yesterday mid-afternoon - confirmation emails yesterday evening - collected from my local TNT depot this morning.

So far very impressed with the handset.

did any devs mange to get the 4g bits inside working?

it's already working just disabled but can be enabled by secret menu, although this was patched by the recent radio upgrade. it only works on certain carriers in certain countries. afaik the wavelength it works on is not yet being used in the UK, so even if a dev did get it working, you still could not use it in the UK. afaik it only works on 1 carrier in the USA.

an update to my battery graph gaps

I flashed stock 4.2.2 stock and flashed PA feb 25th
the gap disappeared but the graph now have disconnected line as shown
TGjdQVo.png

disregard the big gap on wifi. I turn off my wifi during bedtime

Is there an app/method that let you analyze what happened during certain points of time?

I really like to know why is the graph line being disconnected

EDIT: forgot to mention I never turned off or restarted the phone

Thanks for the info. So is that avenue closed now then ? Its not gonna be able to be used on 4g in the UK ?

That depends on many things.

First of all you would need to keep your phone on the stock radio (you can find it and flash it from XDA). Then you would need to go into the secret menu and enable LTE (youtube videos are out there and info in modaco/xda iirc).

Second of all a UK company would need to start using the same frequency that it is capable of working on here in the UK, afaik that won't be happening for a number of months yet (i think they just held an auction for the new frequencies but i do not know if the same one that it uses has been sold or reserved).

Thirdly you would need to get a 4G contract or a 4G PAYG deal with the UK company that owns the frequency and starts broadcasting on it.

Technically it is possible all of the above could happen. Whether it would be worth it or not is something else because usually you need to update the radio to be compatible with newer ROM's and newer versions of android. So you would still be on 4.2.1 and others would have upgraded to 5.0 by then.

Got it done without any major drama! Used the N4 toolkit which did all the work although I do agree with you that you could root / unlock the boot loader manually.

I haven't had the phone long enough to notice the Wi-Fi notification bug. Does it occur in the 4.2.2 ROM?

Using CM10.1 but I presume this is a 4.2.2 problem. Bit annoying as notifications still aren't coming through at all, no matter what I do to tweak the settings. We'll see how this progresses though, might be a CM problem.

How many cycles has the phone been through? Generally the phone will need several cycles of going quite flat (eg. a few down to 20% or so) before the battery meter will read correctly. You can use BetterBatteryStats to see exactly what is going on but it won't tell you when things have happened.

Keep in mind that the battery meter is an estimate, and that even if it is going down rather consistently, you'll find that it is never 100% correct (in fact, it will typically be quite a way off). Just the way it is, on any device really.

Got myself a Nexus 4 after being an iPhone man for ever, I have had every model of iPhone. Now the Nexus 4 is a lot better phone than the last Android phone I had, a Nexus One, and the OS has moved on but I am still struggling to find good quality apps.

For example, nothing seems to come close to Tweetbot. Can't find a replacement for SimpleNote. I'm not a gamer but I do like my productivity apps, alas there is no OmniFocus for Android but hey ho.

Still got an iPad as I'm not a fan of Android tablets (although I have a Nexus 7 atm) but my view of Android is better than it was.

Hmm...actually took my N4 out with me today (I've been waiting till my number is switched over), and used it like I would any other day.

AOKP build 4 installed (4.2.2), and Franco kernel r90. Left data on all day (GiffGaff £12 unlimited data), and it's currently at 8h49m uptime, 1h16m screen time with 56% left.

Little disappointing to be honest, especially since people are saying things like "4/5/6h screen time".

wow that does sound pretty harsh - i'm currently sitting on 75% bat left, 1h 12m screen on time, 20 min voice calls, and 10 mins video calling on Gtalk.
7h 50m on battery.

mostly on Wi-Fi though!

I can very easily get over 4hours screen on time with the latest 4.2.2 update though.

yeah you are correct, nexu5 will be here before that lot above happens.

thanks for the info

Having come from a bb the only area i dislike about this phone is the battery life, i do tend to get around 4 hours screen time though. Changed from the qualacom app to green power as i prefer how it works particularly the wifi handling where you authorise points and when you move out of them it turns the wifi off
