***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Having come from a bb the only area i dislike about this phone is the battery life, i do tend to get around 4 hours screen time though. Changed from the qualacom app to green power as i prefer how it works particularly the wifi handling where you authorise points and when you move out of them it turns the wifi off

For a modern smart phone 4 hours screen time is really good, I guess you just need to get into the mind set of having to charge your phone everyday, no real away around that expect getting a razr Maxx.

On another note I had a dropped my phone last night head ear height (5.8") and it feel right on its screen, lucky enough the phone is perfectly fine :D.

How many cycles has the phone been through? Generally the phone will need several cycles of going quite flat (eg. a few down to 20% or so) before the battery meter will read correctly. You can use BetterBatteryStats to see exactly what is going on but it won't tell you when things have happened.

Keep in mind that the battery meter is an estimate, and that even if it is going down rather consistently, you'll find that it is never 100% correct (in fact, it will typically be quite a way off). Just the way it is, on any device really.

I think its only been down to 20% about twice since i got it since January. Its plugged in everytime im in the computer every afternoon

Got myself a Nexus 4 after being an iPhone man for ever, I have had every model of iPhone. Now the Nexus 4 is a lot better phone than the last Android phone I had, a Nexus One, and the OS has moved on but I am still struggling to find good quality apps.

For example, nothing seems to come close to Tweetbot. Can't find a replacement for SimpleNote. I'm not a gamer but I do like my productivity apps, alas there is no OmniFocus for Android but hey ho.

Still got an iPad as I'm not a fan of Android tablets (although I have a Nexus 7 atm) but my view of Android is better than it was.

I'm assuming SimpleNote is a note-taking app. The best I've found on Android is Catch Notes - it's great :). It's also free and has no ads. There's a paid version but it just gives some superfluous stuff you don't actually need.... the free version does everything you could want. You can make text notes in multiple folders, sound recordings, checklists etc, and what's more it's really simple to use (not confusing as **** like evernote)

Had another look at this today, still extremely tempting!

If KLP is really good, I think I will get one.....

Really loving mine, its just so fast, and with 4.2.2 it seems to be even quicker, the battery life issues are gone now and its all in all a very completely android package. I'm starting to get over the whole AMOLED issue, it just that contrast shift that gets me from time to time :( but apart from that the screen is also amazing. 2GB of ram is really the way forward, apps are just read to go when I am, and it doesn't really do much to the battery life having 10+ apps in the background.

Just flashed this :D

I don't really get what this aosp stuff is ? OK so its the open source project and the binaries posted are like drivers ?

Nope. SimpleNote is a cloud service that stores and syncs notes. There is also app with the same name on iOS. I used that and nValt on OSX to keep my notes in sync. Not having that functionality on the N4 is a downer. Still can get to them by the web so all isn't lost.

What's wrong with Evernote, i use that to sync between all my devices

It basically all the drivers for the phone are all open source now, should improve development, reduce bugs and so on. You will need to flash the new drivers going forward on most 4.2.2 roms, like PA.

I posted a couple of months or so ago about getting a cover. Got a Poetic bumper and was very impressed with it, fit the phone nicely and made it feel much more hardy.

However, after not very long the bits on the frame started to come loose. I was taking it on and off quite a bit, maybe once a day, to wipe the pocket dust and whatnot from the edges but the whole thing pretty much came apart, especially around the volume rocker and power button.

I tried to superglue it back together but no chance. Is it worth getting another one of these or something else? I don't want some giant rubber thing that is gonna make the phone twice the size but I do want some sort of protection.

It's as very common issue with first batch bumpers, tell Poetic and they'll let you keep the first to mess about with and send you a new one.

Exactly.

It means you can download the code and compile a 100% working ROM without requiring anything from the handset.

ok so using stock android on my N4, should i be flashing anything that has been posted or just remain as it is?

Does that mean that in theory, people can add features to the default camera app, and create a sort of "Cyanogen mod of the camera" type thing?
