***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

Got to say I disagree with that, I generally use a screen protector, I've managed to scratch gorilla glass without having any idea how I've managed it so the compromise is worth it for me considering resale value and how much it is damaged by having screen damage.

Agreed, it's the ability to replace the protector that is key. Not that it is more liable to scratches than the glass

i think its outrageous a just a stupid waste people buy into, ever wondered why the likes of apple and samsung don't make screen protectors or give you a bunch free with the phone?

you just need common sense... my phone enters my left pocket only and nothing else goes in that pocket... and yep no scratches... also the glass is pretty solid these days and you can get a sock case or hard case for nights on the booze :D

as a designer it is an insult to stick a 2p bit of plastic over a £400 designed and crafted phone...

No, but if something (a key or whatever) can damage glass in the first place then it's going to go straight through the plastic and get to the glass anyway.

Ok i buy the whole glass is holier than thou but don't start making scenarios up. For the glass to be scratched through a softer material is extremely unlikely - for the record i still won't have metal in the same pocket as the phone just common sense

Personally i feel reassured with the protector, i can put these things on without any blemishes/dust etc and if the screen does get scratched I'll put another on.

That you don't want to do this is fine by me but the original discussion was implying a scratch on a protector is as bad as the screen which it obviously isn't

i have never had this happen, it would need to be an extremely sharp object using force.

screen protectors can be bought on ebay for pennies, 3 for £1, etc. therefor ei use one to protect the screen, i have had a gorilla glass screen scratched in the past, therefore not wanting it to happen again.

people do not walk about with condoms on, but people do walk about with shoes on, why? oh yes to protect their feet funnily enough.

Its an insult to the designers and the phone. .... Its like in the 70's people used to put clear plastic covers over chairs and carpets. Where do you draw the line. You are missing out on the lovely feel of the nexus4... Fact

It might look great, it might feel great but the choice to use glass on the back was bad because it's easily damaged... Fact.

The majority of people don't care whether you use a case or a screen protector because phones aren't style accessories, they're phones.

that's like saying people who wrap their cars in vinyl are insulting the designers and the car.

i generally find there are 3 types of people when it comes to items:

1. those that do not care and abuse them
2. those that use them normally
3. those that look after their items and protect them

i for example will look after any technology and protect it if possible. on the other hand i use and abuse shoes and trainers, i just simply buy new ones when i feel like it. but there is some people out there that clean their shoes daily, some people who even spend 30 minutes cleaning their trainers. same goes for cars some people use and abuse them, others look after them.

just because you like glass doesnt mean other people cannot use screen protectors.

So have they finally improved the battery life of the Nexus 4 then? Last I heard that web browsing and video playback time was abysmal.

Not noticed that, only time i feel the power literally sucked out is when i use the gps. Anker battery pack sorted me out in those situations

Getting mine sent back; fed up with the poor battery life mine has been getting.

To be fair Google on the phone seemed OK about it; just a little bit of a pain having to order a brand new one

I go to bed with it at 100%, wake up around 7am and it's already drained around 10-15%; nothing out of the ordinary, regular push notifications anybody would have with a smartphone. I'm lucky to get just over 2 hours screen time.

My N4 has had the best battery life of any phone I've ever owned. I hardly ever go to bed with the battery under 50%.

i take it you have never owned a nokia then?

their most basic models can last a week without recharging, some of their high end ones can last 3 days easy too.

i also found the best signal quality ever on a basic nokia model it managed to get full signal in a low signal area, which always gets 1-2 bar on any other phone, but the quality of the speaker left a lot to desire, so although it was a constant clean signal, it wasn't crystal clear due to the cheap ear speaker. im talking about a phone with no camera, no gps, no acceloremeter, touch screen etc, just a basic £10 for a brand new nokia

battery life has improved a lot since launch due to updates, but it is nowhere near the best, but it's now at an acceptable level. before I struggled to get a day's use, now i get a day easily with plenty spare.
