***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

After years of having a pants phone it's time for me to upgrade so I'm looking at getting this one. I haven't changed my phone for years so sorry for the following noob question!

I want to keep my phone number so is this easy to do?

I'm looking at buying the phone and then getting something like the giffgaff £12 monthly bundle (unless anyone recommends something else).

That's exactly what I done, had am old phone and wanted something new. Was very easy to keep my old number. I phoned Orange and asked for a PAC code which they gave me over the phone and then I sent that to giffgaff along with my old number and they changed it in a day or two. I find giffgaff ideal for what I want as well except I'm on the £10 goodybag.

Had the phone for a few days now, very impressed. Pictures don't get across just how sexy it is. Which kind of complicates things re. cases :p

Also, i'm kinda having trouble finding apps to install. Aside from the obvious stuff (twitter), it seems to do everything i used to use apps for by default :D

Trying out some new themes and case combinations:

apparently pacman ROM takes everything PA has as well as 2 other ROM's and combines them into basically a SUPER ROM with a whole host of things.

im personally thinking about switching from PA to pacman.

I run PAC, it's really good. So many customisation options!

dont see the point of the white nexus 4 tbh, the phone has a 12 month cycle and its "proper" new model is months away, surely anybody who wanted a n4 has it by now and therefore the point of selling to buy a white one is pointless when you could just slap a white case on it instead.

they should have released it at the launch, pointless now, complete waste of money, although google do have enough to waste since they pay zero tax here.

Can't say i've felt the need to mess with custom ROMs yet. Stock Jelly Bean is pretty damn neat...

I saw a video showing the Pac rom, where it was full screen, no menu area or notify area and menu buttons were long press on the screen. That alone is a major improvement on the stock. Very tempted but will see 4.3 first

I'm pretty sure current N4 owners aren't their target market.

Thinking of rooting my phone soon, but I've had it for just over 2 months now which means I have a lot of data to be backed up. What is the best way to go about backing up data before rooting? Also, I'm pretty sure that I'm going to go with the PACman ROM, would this be a good choice? Finally, would this app work with it? I'm looking to use it to add saturation and colour to the screen.

Thanks for any help :D

Franco kernel will work with PACman im using it with 0 problems

just moved over to pacman from PA, looks like it doesn't have halo currently.

hopefully it comes soon enough, this is why I was resisting moving over, surely the developer isn't that good at making custom ROM's as he just basically takes what other people do and just steals it basically.

so now i have to wait for him to steal halo and incorporate it into his ROM.

i would recommend sticking to PA for now, even though I am going to trial pacman for the next month or so, i may end up moving back, willing to give it a proper chance.

there's just so many ROM's out there, it's hard to see one which is best and 100% stable.
