***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

If you are an unlocked/rooted phone then you can either grab the franco updater from the google play store or download milestone 2 and install that through recovery - though the updater gives more control on the kernel. If non of this makes sense you need to probably google a video on doing it.

As I understand it the Kernel can be used it on stock rom as well as long as it is unlocked

The easiest way is via the Franco updater (does the free version do it as well?) that has an option to install in recovery. Or do what I do download it using the updater and then use rom manager to install,

** better answer above :)

The sound on the Nexus 4 is really getting to me, my mini speakers are pitiful compared to all my other devices, my laptop and tablet blasts the music out of my 2 X-Mini's as the nexus is a lot quieter.

Any roms that correct this?

Mercury wallet case from ebay just arrived. About £7, so obviously not real leather but i prefer this anyway. Surprisingly good design though, would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a cheap case. Although all of the other non-pink colours seem to be out of stock. Fits two cards, some cash and a, err... something else that is generally kept in wallets comfortably, without the magnet coming apart which is a complaint i heard of some similar style cases.

my n4 is in need of a reset, the camera app takes now 4/5 seconds to save the photo and go onto the next where as before it was almost instant, and the phone screen turning on and off on it's own (esp when near dead batter) is diving me nutts, though this may be a hardware issue more then a software issue, however i'm willing to give a rom a go, and root so i can install cerberus. the phone also now will randomly lose reception completely and take forever to come back, sometimes needing to go to plane mode and out again, something it never used to do. i can check the phone thinking it's been quite for a while to realise it's receptionless. grrrr

any suggestions for what to go with? atm i use go launcher and can't see me changing so the launcher you start with isn't important. i also aren't so keen on this pie thing/hiding the 3 main keys as i use them too often and the pie is slower imo.

stability is what i want, with extra features that improve the experience rather then remove/replace it.

thanks all

I am very happy with cyanogenmod, with Franco kernel. Basically you put the Rom on then the kernel. Cyanogenmod recently implemented the pie menu which does away with the irritating menu buttons. I tried paranoid android before but for me battery life with pa was worse than stock but cg it's significantly better which was a surprise. In both cases I have got the nightlies on

Both of my devices having the "Hissing Issue" :(
One is rooted and with Cyanogenmod and Franko other fully stock.

Called Google and they are sending some shipping labels for me to send these back and advance replacements have been placed.
But from the look of it many still have the same issue even after the replacements!

i think this is a signal issue.

it seems to become exponentially worse with weaker signals.

move to a strong full signal area and you can hardly hear any "crap" in the background.

it's amazing to think that the actual phone part of a smartphone gets basically overlooked and tacked on at the end, even a £10 nokia is crystal clear in a very weak signal area, in fact a £10 nokia has nearly a full signal in areas where i get 1 bar on the nexus 4.

If locked, setting sound allows this. Hold the Power button and expand the desktop, the pie controls are lovely. Also grab Franco kernel, it is worth it for the processor handling and you can change color saturation which has a remarkable impact

I tried a CM 10.1 nightly after doing a Ti-Backup (free) and everything went **** up. Luckily I had a full backup too.

Seemed to not like a ti-backup restore after the rom was installed. Also kept popping up with developer settings questions but I couldn't find where they were on the settings screens.

Will have another go another time really.
