***The Official LG Nexus 4 Thread***

can i have some feedback on peoples cases please? really need to get myself one now that I have worn through the screen protectors ha

theres a huge thread over on xda with hundreds of cases that have video reviews, priced and word reviews as well.

imo just buy the cheapest case from ebay if your not bothered about looks and want something plain (avoid white they get dirty really quickly).

if you do want looks then buy the cheapest good looking one from ebay.

ebay literally has hundreds of different cases to choose from

Ahh sorry, in setting then sound check the option in there. This only applies to when the phone is locked.if outside of lock then I don't know

I don't know, I was quite happy with the stock rom but I had always custom rom'd my HTC Desire so finally bit the bullet on the N4 now.

CM 10.1 + Franco = awesome

Now I just wish I could work out how to use UCCW properly and I could make a real nice homescreen

Agreed, when I did Franco + PA it felt good but not great and was lookign to return to stock. When I put CM 10.1 + Franco different ball game, Google will need todo some nice improvements to get me to return to stocck and battery life is significantly better.

Play with the colour profiles in Franco they are also very nice

The free app only allows you to find out the latest releases; doesn't allow to change the configuration.

If you want a free app that does this, TricksterMOD is your best bet. This said, the paid version of franco's app looks very nice indeed.

It took me a while to get it.

Go into the app, the updater allows you to update the kernel.
Colour Control allows you to try different colours. I chose one that seemed to have a number of revisions and liked it.
Power mode - I tried Beastly Battery and best balance tbh didn't notice that much from the standard franco - more a wow I can do that :)

Finally the system monitor is very nice - I just use the one provided not paying anything more :)

Just ordered a Nexus 4 and should be here tomorrow. £27 p/m for 500 mins, unlimited texts and data with T-Mobile and with the phone being free. Upgrading from an iPhone 3GS, can't wait to fully try out android after having a play with mates and in store.

The one thing i can't really find any information about is... why? What are the advantages? :D

Just a load of extra tweaks and features. Custom ROM's like Paranoid Android give you a level of customisation that's just crazy. Can run tablet version of apps and change dpi per app for example.

Especially on a Nexus where ypu can change the SW buttons colours (per app)/size location.

And they are generally faster and have better battery life.

This is an old version of PA running on my Galaxy Nexus:

ParanoidAndroid 2.54 on my Galaxy Nexus.
AWESOME ROM + PHONE btw!

Custom Nav buttons + Phablet mode:

Per app custom colour status + nav buttons

Cheers Mattey. I wish my S4 had onscreen buttons.

Nexus phones are cool.

In a dream world I'd wish for a Galaxy Nexus design (my fav) with GS4 hardware!
